In early May, the Western Stabaek, a Philippine cargo ship, docked at Pier 3, Vung Ang Port. The 40,000-ton ship entered the port to receive potassium from a Lao enterprise exporting to Japan. When docking and unloading the goods, the crew members were very satisfied because the port met the technical specifications and received active support from the authorities.

Mr. Miguel Ballarta, Captain of the Western Stabaek commented: “Berth 3 meets the requirements of a modern port, and can accommodate large tonnage ships very conveniently. Here, I also received very timely support from the port management and operation units.”
Wharf No. 3 of Vung Ang Port has a shore-connected wharf structure, 225m long; receives general cargo ships with a tonnage of up to 45,000 tons, with a maximum displacement of 55,052 tons.
With a design capacity of 2.15 million tons/year, after only 3 months of operation, as of early August 2025, Terminal No. 3 has received 41 ships entering the port with a loading and unloading capacity of nearly 500,000 tons.

Mr. Chu Van Hanh, a worker at the Loading and Unloading Enterprise, Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company, excitedly said: "Since Pier No. 3 came into operation, the number of cargo ships passing through the port has increased, especially goods from Laos exported through Vung Ang. From there, we have more jobs and higher income."
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company said: "Since its commercial operation, Terminal No. 3 has been effective from the beginning with 100% of its design capacity. The encouraging sign is that the volume of Lao goods passing through the port is increasing. This is an important premise for the company to continue investing and improving the quality of transportation and unloading services."
Along with terminals 1, 2, 3, Terminal 4 invested by Hoanh Son Group Joint Stock Company is also in the process of completion, preparing to be put into use in early 2026. When the new terminals come into operation, they will contribute to promoting logistics services, improving competitiveness, increasing the attractiveness index in attracting investment in the region and increasingly better serving the import and export and trading of goods.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Binh, Deputy Head of Vung Ang Port Customs, said: "The operation of Terminal No. 3 has contributed to promoting the development of logistics services at the port, thereby attracting businesses and investors to the economic zone, thereby creating a source of budget revenue and promoting the economic development of the province."

With a synchronous and modern wharf system, in the first 7 months of the year, 3 million tons of goods passed through Vung Ang Port. And with the new wharf coming into operation, it will create new momentum, continuing to promote the volume of goods passing through the port. From there, it will create important driving forces not only in solving jobs, contributing to budget revenue, but also contributing with Ha Tinh to realize the goal of turning Vung Ang - Son Duong port cluster into a driving force for economic growth.
In 2024, the volume of goods passing through the port of Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company will reach 5 million tons and it is expected that when Terminal No. 3 comes into operation, the volume of goods passing through the port in 2025 will reach 6 million tons.
