Firmly following the path of the October Revolution in Russia

Việt NamViệt Nam10/11/2024

The historical value of a revolution is inherent in itself and its positive radiance to the world around it. That value does not depend much on how it is embellished or defamed. But certainly, objective and fair assessments and evaluations of the value of a revolution will have the meaning of adding to and increasing the value of that revolution. The Russian October Revolution is no exception.

1. Hostile forces use all kinds of reasons to make arguments denying the value of the October Revolution in Russia in 1917. They believe that: "The collapse of socialism at the cradle of the October Revolution is inevitable, proving that choosing the path to socialism is wrong and illusory"; therefore, "all nations need to say "no" to the path of building socialism". And "Vietnam should not follow the path of the October Revolution in Russia, because it is a path without a future", "deviates from the general law of development of human society", etc.

In fact, they attack and deny the value of the greatest, most profound, and most thorough revolution, thereby indirectly denying and distorting the path to socialism in our country. Although this argument is not new, the tricks are more sophisticated, cunning, and harder to identify. The reason is that, in the face of the resounding victories of the resistance wars against foreign invaders and the impressive successes in the renovation process initiated and led by our Party, it is difficult for the forces to directly deny the revolutionary achievements that our country and people have achieved. Therefore, forcing them not to attack directly but to attack indirectly is very dangerous if we are not alert, wavering, negligent, and lose vigilance against this trick.

2. The enduring and outstanding values of the October Revolution in Russia cannot be denied:

Firstly, the Russian October Revolution created an important practical breakthrough, a qualitative leap forward for scientific socialism: from scientific theory to vivid reality in the world. Before the Russian October Revolution of 1917 broke out, no revolution in the world had been able to do this, including the first and failed experiments of the Paris Commune (1871). With the Russian October Revolution, the theory of scientific socialism took a new breakthrough in its development: breaking into practice, engaging in the reality of the revolution, taking root in social practice. Thanks to this great breakthrough, the cycle from utopian socialism to scientific socialism and finally to real socialism was completed. This breakthrough demonstrated the potential, strong vitality and creativity of scientific theory and revolution. From here, socialism is known not only as a scientific doctrine, a movement, but also as a concrete social regime, vividly realized, with immense power, paving the way for oppressed peoples to rise up and fight for independence and freedom.

Second, the value of the Russian October Revolution is to transform the working class from the status of slaves working for the bourgeoisie in capitalism into the revolutionary leadership class, the masters of the new society. As leader Nguyen Ai Quoc pointed out: "Russia has a strange story / Turning slaves into free people". This is something that all previous social revolutions have been unable to do. With the Russian October Revolution, for the first time a revolution was not led by the exploiting and ruling class, but by the working class and working people, under the leadership of the Communist Party, successfully carried out. This is the great and undeniable practical value of the Russian October Revolution.

Third, the success of the Russian October Revolution in 1917 had a very profound value and significance in opening up an era. From here, a new era in the development of human history opened up, which was the era of transition from capitalism to socialism on a global scale. The victory of the October Revolution gave birth to real socialism, with the Socialist Republic and the Communist Party in the position of the ruling party. No matter how history changes and fluctuates, the milestone of the Russian October Revolution in opening a new era will never change. No one and never can deny the opening and pioneering value of the Russian October Revolution. That is certain.

Fourth, in addition to its value in opening a new era, the exemplary value of the Russian October Revolution has great appeal and influence. The Russian October Revolution has had a profound and epochal influence on all revolutions in the present era and on the development process of the modern world. From this perspective, the ideas of the Russian October Revolution have the value of laying the foundation for the realization of the socialist revolutionary ideal on a global scale. Due to its epochal influence, of human scale, and its continuous application and creative development by nations and peoples, it has affirmed the everlasting vitality and immortal spirit of the Russian October Revolution.

Because of its value, appeal and global influence, the bourgeoisie, capitalism and forces hostile to socialism and the October Revolution in Russia could not sit still. They always sought ways to sabotage and deny the great and eternal value of the October Revolution in Russia and socialism.

3. Criticize the method of distorting the path to socialism in Vietnam through denying the value of the October Revolution in Russia.

Firstly, the close connection between the Russian October Revolution and the Vietnamese Revolution is inevitable and undeniable. Because the Russian October Revolution is a typical revolution, opening a new revolutionary period in the world, and the Vietnamese Revolution is a part of the world revolution, having a close and intimate relationship with the world revolution. The path that the Vietnamese Revolution is taking today is the path that the Russian October Revolution opened up and outlined.

Practice has proven that: “Without the great October Revolution, the Vietnamese people could not have completed their August Revolution...”[1]. Following the path of the Russian October Revolution, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the Vietnamese people made the August Revolution of 1945, opening a new era for the country - the era of national independence, democracy and socialism; the victory at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 and the complete liberation of the South, the reunification of the country in 1975. Currently, continuing to inherit and spread the values of the Russian October Revolution, Vietnam always adheres to the goal of national independence and socialism, continues to comprehensively and synchronously promote the renovation process, bring the country to rapid and sustainable development and has achieved great victories of historical significance. Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today. The success of the Vietnamese revolution in general and the cause of renovation in particular is the continuation and widespread spread of the influence, inspiration, immortal spirit and everlasting values of the Russian October Revolution. The great and comprehensive achievements that Vietnam has achieved after nearly 40 years of renovation have clearly affirmed the correctness of persistently following the path of the great Russian October Revolution, rejecting all distortions of hostile forces.

Second, although the Vietnamese revolution and the Russian October Revolution have close connections, it is impossible to identify the Russian October Revolution with the Vietnamese revolution. These two revolutions, in essence, are both proletarian revolutions, carried out by the working class and working people under the leadership of the Communist Party. They both aim at specific immediate and long-term goals of the socialist revolution such as overthrowing the government and domination of the outdated, reactionary bourgeoisie and feudalism, establishing a revolutionary government of the working class and working people, building a new socialist society in each country, etc. However, the specific forms, steps and methods of each revolution are not entirely the same. The conditions and circumstances of each country are also different. Therefore, it is impossible to identify the failure of one revolution as the failure of the other, and vice versa. Arguments in the style of “bridging” proof in this case are methodologically incorrect and inconsistent with the revolutionary reality of each country.

Third, to prove the correctness of scientific socialism - a scientific and revolutionary doctrine on a global scale - cannot be done only by the practice of a specific revolution in a specific country, but must be the result of verification by many revolutions in many countries around the world and in many different historical revolutionary periods. Each of those revolutions, from its practical perspective, can only demonstrate the correctness of scientific socialism in each specific, vivid practical aspect, associated with its circumstances. The truth must be tested by practice, but not by isolated practice, but by widespread practice, of the majority of the people, and repeated many times. On the other hand, not only success, but even failure of practical activities are criteria for testing theory. Therefore, the failure of a specific revolution is not necessarily a failure of theory, on the contrary, it more accurately confirms the correctness of theory. The problem is to "specifically analyze a specific situation" and cannot make arbitrary, subjective, or mistaken assumptions.

Fourth, the history of world revolutions shows that when capitalism was first born, it also had to go through painful failures, facing fierce counterattacks from feudalism and hostile forces, along with subjective mistakes of the bourgeoisie. For example, the first bourgeois revolution broke out in the Netherlands starting in August 1566, but it was not until 1581 that the northern provinces of the Netherlands established the "United Provinces" (later the Dutch Republic), but they were not recognized by the Spanish colonialists and the struggle continued. It was not until 1648, that is, after 82 years of persistent struggle, that the Spanish government finally recognized the independence of the Netherlands. The revolution ended, and the Netherlands was liberated. Or, as a typical bourgeois democratic revolution, the French bourgeois revolution also needed three uprisings (first: June 1791; second: August 10, 1792; third: May 31, 1793) and one coup d'état (July 1794) to overthrow the feudal regime and bring the bourgeoisie to power. It opened an era of victory and consolidated the domination of the bourgeoisie on a world scale. That shows that carrying out a revolution is not easy, and can succeed or fail at any time if the revolutionary class is not clear-headed and makes serious mistakes.

The first proletarian revolution was the Paris Commune (France) which broke out in 1871. Although it was victorious, it only lasted 72 days; the Russian October Revolution was victorious and lasted 74 years (1917-1991). That is a historical truth. But even if they fail, the revolutions do not lose the value they bring to humanity and to the development of human history. Following the ideal goal of the Russian October Revolution, today, countries such as China, Vietnam, Cuba, Laos, etc. are still firmly on the path of socialism and have achieved undeniable successes.

From the above analysis, it can be seen that the ultimate goal of hostile forces is to make Vietnam change its political regime and abandon the path to socialism. The tricks used by these subjects are increasingly sophisticated and difficult to identify. Currently, they rarely directly deny, but often interweave and integrate old and new arguments, correct information and toxic bad news, etc. to cause skepticism, confusion and erode the trust of our cadres, party members and people in socialism and the path to socialism, thereby steering the Vietnamese revolution along the capitalist path. Therefore, cadres, party members and people need to be extremely alert, have correct political awareness, and a firm ideological stance in the face of the plots and sabotage tricks of hostile forces, and have absolute confidence in the leadership of the Party, in the goal of national independence and socialism; Firmly following the path of the October Revolution will ensure that the Vietnamese revolution will continue to gain even greater victories.
