Within just 1 month, people in the flood-prone area of Chuong My District ( Hanoi ) had to face floodwaters twice over the Bui River dike, with some places being 2 meters deep, making many people frustrated and hoping the water would recede soon so that their lives could stabilize.
The flood water rose rapidly and rushed over the Bui River dike (Chuong My District), causing Ms. Nguyen Thi Doanh's family (Nam Phuong Tien Commune) to not have time to store enough clean water. After many days of holding out, the clean water for the family's drinking needs was almost gone. The electricity was cut off to ensure safety, so every day Ms. Doanh cooked rice on a wood stove.
The water reached the gate, almost overflowing into the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Doanh, which is about 2 meters higher than the road surface.

In recent days, the family has been collecting rainwater in buckets and basins for daily activities and washing clothes. "When the water level drops, I will row a boat to the end of the street to buy clean water for use," said Ms. Danh.

As of the afternoon of September 12, the water on the Bui River had begun to recede. However, in Tan Tien commune, there were still places with water levels over 1 meter high, and in Nhan Ly village (Nam Phuong Tien commune), there were places with water levels over 2 meters high, higher than the historic flood in July 2024. This was the second time in just one month that people in the flood-prone area had to endure widespread flooding, making everyone frustrated.

The highest point in Nam Phuong Tien commune is the communal house, which is used to receive relief goods from all over. Thousands of people were previously forced to evacuate to safety. Those who remained here to guard their property had to sign a commitment with the local government.

Standing at the village communal house to help people receive necessities with the shock team, Ms. Trinh Thi Quyen (a teacher, a local) said that the joy of her and her students only lasted 2 days after the opening day and then disappeared. Because, after storm No. 3 and the impact of heavy rain, the school was flooded. "The day the floodwaters came, everyone ran to the school to protect their property. There were places where they couldn't "run" for their belongings in time and were submerged in the floodwaters, it was heartbreaking to see," Ms. Quyen expressed.
