Teachers in Vision 2045

The year 2045 - the century anniversary of the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - is not only a milestone in economic and cultural development, but also an aspiration to bring Vietnamese education into the top 20 in the world.

When English becomes the second language in schools, teachers will be at the heart of national innovation - not only imparting knowledge, but also guiding, nurturing character and inspiring the aspirations of the young generation of Vietnam.

K SINGING VIETNAMESE EDUCATION IN 2045

On August 22, 2025, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development. The Resolution set a clear goal: by 2045, Vietnam's education must be among the top 20 countries in the world with the highest quality education, and English must become the second language in schools. This is a major milestone, demonstrating the Party's strategic vision on human development - the key resource for a strong, prosperous and happy nation.

In the spirit of Resolution 71, Vietnamese education does not stop at the viewpoint of "education and training is the top national policy", but also "decides the future of the nation". The goal of Resolution 71 is not only "innovation of the program" and "improvement of exams", but must be a comprehensive breakthrough: from development thinking, governance mechanism, learning ecosystem, to the team of teachers - the force that directly determines the quality of education.

THE APPEARANCE OF THE WORLD'S TOP 20 EDUCATION SYSTEM

A top 20 education system in the world in 2045 will be measured not only by international rankings, but also by the quality of its citizens and the learning society it creates.

There, Vietnamese students study in an open, multilingual, multicultural, and creative environment. Technology and English become common learning tools; students can access global knowledge, participate in international projects, and start up science and technology businesses while still in school.

Vietnamese education will then operate according to the smart education model: each student will have an electronic learning profile, a personalized roadmap, supported by artificial intelligence (AI), big learning data (learning analytics) and open learning materials.

The classroom is no longer "four walls" but opens up to the world - where students learn through experience, practice, connect with the community and take action for the environment and society.

More importantly, an education system in the top 20 cannot only have modern schools, but must also have excellent teachers, because no education system can surpass the caliber of its teaching staff.

TEACHER OF 2045: INTELLIGENCE - CREATIVITY - HUMANITY

To reach the top 20 education systems in the world, today's teachers must change first, move faster, when the world has time to change.

If the first two decades of the 21st century were a period of innovation in teaching programs and methods, then the period towards 2045 is a period of redefining the role of the teacher. The teacher is not only a person who imparts knowledge, but also a designer, an inspirer and a companion to the students.

Teachers in the new era must be "lifelong learners", not only to improve their professional qualifications but also to adapt to change.

First of all, teachers of the new era must be "lifelong learners". Learning is not only to improve professional qualifications but also to adapt to change. They need to be proficient in technology, foreign languages, digital skills, data thinking; know how to use AI, open learning materials, and global learning networks to enrich their lessons and inspire students.

In a learning society, teachers must be pioneers in the journey of continuous learning. As knowledge changes every day and educational technology develops rapidly, they cannot stop at old lectures but must continuously learn to understand technology, innovate methods, master knowledge and lead students to adapt to the changing world. Teachers in the 4.0 era need to have digital skills, foreign languages, interdisciplinary thinking and a spirit of learning.

Next, the teacher is the "creativity instigator". Today's students do not need to be "crammed" with knowledge but need to be guided in self-study, critical thinking, daring to ask questions and experiment. A good lesson is when students are allowed to debate, make mistakes and explore. The teacher helps students "learn to create" and not just "learn to take exams". The teacher needs to nurture open-minded thinking, dare to experiment, create and change. Each classroom needs to become a small "laboratory" for educational innovation, where students are respected, listened to and develop their own abilities.

More importantly, teachers must be "people who sow human values". Technology can replace many things, but cannot replace people in teaching how to live. In a world full of data but lacking in humanity, teachers are the fire that nurtures personality, morality and love. Above all, teachers must keep the flame of humanity - because no matter how far technology advances, only love, kindness and a beautiful example of life from teachers can touch the hearts of students.

And finally, Vietnamese teachers need "global courage and Vietnamese heart" - teaching with modern methods and international languages, but still instilling in students national pride and the desire to serve the Fatherland.

Law on Teachers - the foundation for professional teachers

The National Assembly passed the Law on Teachers on June 12, 2025, effective from January 1, 2026, marking a historic milestone for the sector. The law affirms the position of teaching as a special profession, highly professional, respected by society, and the State guarantees working conditions, income, and career development.

The Law on Teachers and Resolution 71 form two parallel policy pillars: one is the legal framework to protect and develop teachers; the other is the strategic vision for national education and improving the quality, prestige and income of teachers.

Both aim for a common goal: bringing teachers back to the center of educational innovation, investing in teachers is investing in the future.

Education ecosystem supports teachers' professional development

To realize the 2045 vision, in addition to the efforts of each teacher, there needs to be an educational ecosystem that supports teachers' professional development:

Firstly, there is a policy of adequate remuneration, valuing the contributions of teachers. Especially for teachers working in difficult, remote and isolated areas.

Second, create a democratic and creative working environment for teachers to freely create.

Third, create opportunities for teachers to study, exchange, research, and practice teaching in countries in the region and internationally.

Fourth, there is an international standard training and development system, especially the standards of teachers in advanced countries.
