A typical example is the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Chi Lang commune, Chi Lang district. Mr. Cuong said: My family has 700 custard apple trees. In early 2022, my family's fruit garden was selected to build a model garden. After being propagated and instructed on the contents of building a model garden, my family regularly cleaned the garden, without miscellaneous trees; strictly followed the regulations on solid waste treatment and pesticide packaging. I also actively applied scientific and technical advances in production. Especially from the State's support resources, my family was supported to install a drip irrigation system, creating favorable conditions to reduce labor, gradually improving economic efficiency. By the end of 2022, my family's custard apple garden met the criteria and was recognized as a model garden. On average, each year, the custard apple garden yields 7-10 tons, worth over 200 million VND, creating jobs for 4-5 seasonal workers in the locality.
Similar to Mr. Cuong's household, Mr. Vu Van Muon's Canh orange garden in Vu Son commune, Bac Son district is also a typical model. Mr. Muon said: My family's Canh orange garden was planted in 2014, with a total area of about 2 hectares, bringing in an average annual income of over 400 million VND. In 2021, my fruit garden model was selected by the commune to build a model garden. Accordingly, I was propagated and trained by commune and district officials on planting and care techniques according to VietGAP standards. In addition, my family was supported with pipes and water tanks to build a sprinkler irrigation system. By 2022, my family's Canh orange garden was recognized as meeting model garden standards. Currently, I continue to maintain the criteria of the model garden, while applying the technique of grafting Canh oranges onto grapefruit roots to improve quality and economic efficiency.
