Neymar made an assist for Marquinhos to score the only goal to help Brazil overcome host Peru in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America.

The Brazilian team had a difficult away match against Peru, putting a lot of pressure on Neymar and his teammates when their arch-rival Argentina won the early match and took the top spot.
With home field advantage, Peru entered the match confidently against Brazil. The home team created a stalemate, causing difficulties for Brazil.
In the 16th minute, Raphinha scored against Peru after a messy play in front of the opponent's goal, but the referee caught an offside in the previous play so the goal was not recognized.
In the 29th minute, Richarlison headed the ball neatly after his teammate's cross, hitting the Peruvian net, but once again VAR denied the away team's goal when it found an offside error by the striker currently playing for Tottenham.
Before the end of the first half, Neymar got down to receive the ball and challenged his opponent with a powerful shot, goalkeeper Gallese jumped up to push the ball out to save the home team.
