On May 9, on their official fanpage with more than 6.8 million followers, Westlife announced: "Hanoi, Vietnam! We are very happy to announce that we will come to see you on June 4 and 5."
Along with the announcement of Westlife, the organizer of the group's concert in Vietnam also confirmed that the band with members Shane, Nicky and Kian will return to Vietnam as part of the tour "The Hits Tour 2024".
Westlife is known as one of the most famous and beloved boy bands of the late 1990s and 2000s with countless hits loved by Vietnamese audiences such as: "My Love", "I Lay My Love on You", "Fool Again", "Soledad", "Uptown Girl"... With a career spanning more than two decades, Westlife has captivated audiences around the world with chart-topping hits and outstanding live performances.
While most of the famous boy bands born in the late 1990s such as Backstreet Boys, Boyzone... have disbanded, Westlife has maintained a large fan base spanning decades.
To date, in addition to their sold-out shows, Westlife have sold over 55 million records worldwide. The band has had 14 number one singles in the UK charts (from 1999 to 2006), ranking them third among artists and bands with the most number one singles in the UK (after Elvis Presley and The Beatles). They are also the only band in UK chart history to have seven consecutive number one singles and have won the UK Record of the Year award four times.
In 2011, fans around the world were shocked when Westlife abruptly announced their breakup. However, in 2018, they reunited, releasing two albums, "Spectrum" (2019) and "Wild Dreams" (2021), returning with sold-out tours and huge audiences.
In late November 2023, Westlife blew Vietnamese fans away with packed shows at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. Audiences from all over booked tickets to Ho Chi Minh City to hear their one-time idols perform live.
Therefore, the group members performing in Hanoi this time, bringing with them hits like "Flying Without Wings," "Swear It Again," "My Love"... made many Vietnamese fans, especially the 8X generation, extremely excited.
In particular, according to information from the Organizing Committee, the group 911 - a famous band at the same time as Westlife, which once dominated the MTV Most Wanted charts in the late 1990s and early 2000s, will also participate in "The Hits Tour 2024" as a special guest. 911 is also the band that participated in Duc Phuc's MV "Em dong y" (I DO) released on Valentine's Day 2023, which has so far reached 66 million views on YouTube.
Westlife “The Hits Tour 2024” concert is organized by the Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Events - Hanoi Opera House in collaboration with Midas Promotions. This is an international music event aiming to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and contribute to the strategy of developing cultural industries.
Tickets for both shows will go on sale from May 13, 2024.
