According to Windows Latest, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, and the company is giving users exactly two years to upgrade their hardware and install Windows 11.
The Home and Pro versions of the operating system will no longer be supported by Microsoft, just like what happened with Windows 7 and XP. This means that Windows 10 will join Windows 7 on Microsoft's list of retired computer platforms.
According to Statcounter, Windows 10 is currently installed on about 71% of PCs worldwide, while Windows 11 is installed on about 23% - an acceptable ratio given the operating system's fairly demanding hardware requirements. But that's not enough to ensure that new systems can surpass Windows 10 by October 14, 2025.
Based on Statcounter's statistics, as of October 2023, Windows 10 has the largest market share with about 70.88%. Windows 11 has 24.89% market share. On the other hand, Windows 7, although very old, still accounts for about 2.9%. While Windows 8.1 accounts for about 0.57%, Windows 8 has 0.34% market share and Windows XP has 0.3% of PCs in use.
