Formulate resolutions based on the potential of agriculture and tourism.
Entering a new term, the Ta Lai Commune Party Committee has promptly implemented the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress, in which agriculture and tourism have been identified as the two pillars for local socio-economic development. The commune has boldly implemented a program to reinforce the irrigation system to "bring water to the fields." More than 50km of reinforced irrigation canals have contributed to stabilizing irrigation water sources and increasing crop yields.
"With the sturdy irrigation canals, water reaches the fields quickly with minimal loss, allowing us to cultivate three crops a year stably, achieving good yields every season," shared Mr. Ka Eu, a farmer from Ta Lai commune.
Once a remote and isolated area due to poor transportation links, Ta Lai has undergone a dramatic transformation thanks to a comprehensively invested infrastructure system. The Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Ta Lai commune, Trinh Van Luan, affirmed: "The impetus for Ta Lai's progress is not just the roads and bridges, but also the determined will of the entire Party committee, government, and people of the commune."
Leveraging its natural advantages and local culture, Ta Lai focuses on developing ecotourism and community-based tourism in a sustainable direction, where ethnic minorities are no longer "employees" for tourism, but are truly the main actors in the value chain. "Tourists come here not only for relaxation but also to experience 'a day as a local'. We guide them in making bamboo rice, grilling meat, weaving baskets, working in the fields, listening to folk tales… The people participating in the project both earn income and feel proud that their culture is being shared," proudly said Ms. Ka Tuyen, founder of the Ta Lai Eco Lodge Community Ecotourism Project.
Towards a future of "green destinations"
At the Ta Lai Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, the orientation of building a "green destination" was identified as a strategic goal, consistent with the local sustainable development orientation. This is also Ta Lai's long-term commitment to preserving forests, conserving culture, and promoting indigenous values in socio-economic development.
With support from the provincial government and domestic and international nature conservation organizations, Ta Lai commune is gradually building a model of green tourism, where nature is preserved, culture is honored, and local people become the center of development. According to Mr. Trinh Van Luan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Ta Lai commune, the goal of "greening" the destination has been concretized into clear actions. "Ta Lai advocates sustainable development by encouraging homestays, organizing trekking tours to explore lakes and waterfalls, and visiting national parks... All revolve around the philosophy of respect - preservation - sharing. We want tourists not only to come to Ta Lai to visit but also to become ambassadors spreading awareness of green living," said Mr. Trinh Van Luan.
Within its traditional "garment," Ta Lai does not stand still but chooses a path of development without compromise, a sustainable journey that places people and nature at the center.
Ta Lai's sustainable approach has also been recognized by many international organizations. After visiting the beautiful Ta Lai area, Ms. Susan Santos de Cardenas, representative of Green Destinations Southeast Asia, commented: "Ta Lai is a prime example of the future of tourism: where people are involved, nature is protected, and identity is preserved."
It is a great honor for Ta Lai commune that recently, Ms. Ka Tuyen, the founder of the Ta Lai Eco Lodge Community Ecological Project and an outstanding daughter of Ta Lai, was honored with the Southeast Asia Responsible Tourism Award 2025, presented by the International Cooperation in Sustainable Tourism Certification Programme (ICRT-SEA).
From the direction set by the Resolution of the Party Congress of Ta Lai commune to concrete actions within the community, Ta Lai is continuing its development story through its own internal strength and belief in the path of "greening." In a world facing increasing environmental pressure, Ta Lai's approach is truly a valuable step, proving that development and conservation can go hand in hand if there is determination and concrete solutions.
