Tan Thuan Dong Commune strengthens drug prevention and control

DTO - In recent years, promoting the core role in ensuring security and order, Tan Thuan Dong Commune Police (Cao Lanh City) has coordinated with the Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations of the commune to promote the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on drug prevention and control. Strengthening the fight against and eradicating drug crimes, supporting and helping addicts in the community, gradually reducing drug abuse in the area.

Tan Thuan Dong Commune Police (Cao Lanh City) propagates and disseminates laws on drug crime prevention and control to local people.

According to Major Tran Hoang Vu - Deputy Head of Tan Thuan Dong Commune Police (Cao Lanh City), in recent times, the security and order situation in the commune has been maintained and stable. However, the illegal use of drugs still occurs. The majority of drug users detected use synthetic drugs, and their age is getting younger. With the determination to transform the area, the Commune Police advised the Party Committee and People's Committee of Tan Thuan Dong Commune to direct the implementation of the plan to transform the area into a drug-free commune by 2023. At the same time, develop and organize the implementation of the industry's plan on implementing solutions towards a drug-free commune by 2023.

To improve the effectiveness of the task of transforming the area, the Commune Police coordinated with the Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations of Tan Thuan Dong Commune to promote propaganda activities on drug prevention and control. Increase the duration of propaganda on the radio system to help people understand the harm, methods, tricks of drug criminals and their responsibilities in drug prevention and control. Regularly coordinate to launch the movement "All people protect national security"; mobilize union members, civil servants, public employees and people to voluntarily participate in preventing and denouncing crimes and drug addicts; organize physical education - sports , cultural - artistic exchange activities to attract young people to participate, contributing to limiting the risk of being drawn into drug abuse.

In the area management work, Tan Thuan Dong Commune Police conducts screening, statistics and classification of drug addicts and suspected illegal drug users to put them under management. Regularly invite and meet to propagate the harmful effects of drugs, encourage the subjects to be determined to quit. Promote the role of prestigious people in the family, religious dignitaries and "Self-managed People's Groups" in propagating, mobilizing and transforming,educating drug addicts in the community, limiting the emergence of new addicts.

Along with propaganda activities, Tan Thuan Dong Commune Police also performed well in professional work at the grassroots level; regularly inspected business establishments in industries and professions with security and order conditions to prevent and handle subjects who took advantage of the illegal buying, selling, using and organizing of drug use. In addition, the Commune Police established many working groups to coordinate with professional teams (Cao Lanh City Police) to increase patrols and control of the area; launched high-point attacks and suppression campaigns with the motto of promptly detecting and eliminating drug-related crime and activity points...

Major Tran Hoang Vu added: “With the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Tan Thuan Dong Commune, the Commune Police coordinated with the sectors, the Fatherland Front Committee and the commune's socio-political organizations to synchronously and effectively deploy solutions to propagate and fight against crimes. Thanks to that, in the first months of 2023, there were no drug-related crimes in the commune; there were no drug addicts who had to be subject to administrative sanctions. Through the period of education and rehabilitation, 5/12 drug users and suspected drug users under management have improved, 1 subject has a record of being sent to compulsory drug rehabilitation and 1 subject has left the locality. The remaining subjects are being supported and helped by the Commune Police and related sectors to quit their drugs and soon reintegrate into the community...”.

Determined to complete the goal of transforming the locality into a drug-free commune by the end of 2023, the Commune Police continue to advise the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Tan Thuan Dong Commune to strengthen leadership and direction in the implementation of drug prevention and control work in the locality. Regularly contact, educate, and proactively coordinate with relevant sectors in the management of illegal drug users and post-addicts. Continue to review and promptly detect new illegal drug users to bring them into management and mobilize them to quit. At the same time, coordinate with sectors and socio-political organizations to innovate the content and form of disseminating laws on crime and drug prevention and control; disseminate widely and deeply in branches, groups, associations and the masses to mobilize the entire population to participate in crime prevention and control.
