On January 28th, the People's Committee of Tap Ngai commune held a conference to summarize socio -economic development in 2025 and implement the plan for 2026. Despite numerous difficulties from natural disasters and market fluctuations, the locality still achieved most of its targets, creating a solid foundation for the next phase of development.

Located on the vital National Highway 60, Tap Ngai is a newly formed administrative unit, created by merging the two communes of Tap Ngai and Hieu Tu, covering an area of nearly 59 km² and home to over 31,000 people. The locality is a land of cultural intersection between the Kinh and Khmer communities, creating a unique identity. This is also an advantage for the commune to develop sustainable agriculture , becoming an important link in the regional linkage chain between Vinh Long and neighboring localities.
Last year, the total value of production reached VND 3,030 billion, an increase of 8.2% compared to the same period last year, exceeding the plan by more than 102%. Average per capita income reached VND 84.73 million, nearly 8% higher than the target. Total state budget revenue in the area reached over VND 123 billion, equivalent to 210% of the projected amount; total social investment capital reached VND 365 billion, more than five times the plan, demonstrating the increasingly clear attractiveness of Tap Ngai thanks to its synchronized and favorable transportation infrastructure and investment environment.
The business environment has improved significantly, creating favorable conditions for businesses and households to develop. By 2025, the commune will have 7 new businesses, bringing the total number of business establishments to 411, contributing to job creation and promoting vibrant trade and services.

The total food production in Tap Ngai reached 6,000 tons, with stable yields; aquaculture covered 34.74 hectares, with a harvest of over 2,144 tons, exceeding the plan by 44%; livestock farming developed steadily, and diseases were strictly controlled.
The OCOP program continues to make its mark with 3 products achieving 3-star certification: Le Hoang mosquito nets, Nam Tuan banana candy, and 6 Be sausages, enhancing the value of agricultural products and gradually building local brands.
In the context of building new rural areas, the commune has maintained and improved the criteria, completing 3 model new rural hamlets. Infrastructure such as transportation, irrigation, electricity, and water has been invested in comprehensively; the percentage of households using electricity is nearly 100%, and 100% of the rural population has access to clean water.
Environmental protection efforts were prioritized: over 750 tons of household waste were collected, thousands of officials and residents participated in landscape beautification, and more than 1,500 trees were planted along National Highway 60 and rural roads.
The socio-cultural sector has received due attention. The entire commune has 5 national standard schools, and the rate of students attending school at the appropriate age is high. Healthcare and health insurance have been improved; poverty reduction efforts have been effective, with only 3 poor households remaining (excluding those receiving social assistance). Hundreds of new jobs have been created, raising the percentage of trained workers to over 82%.
National defense and security are maintained; social order is stable. Citizen reception and administrative procedures are handled seriously, with a 100% on-time processing rate, contributing to building a friendly and service-oriented government.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Quyển, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tap Ngai commune, the commune aims to achieve a total production value growth of over 10% in 2026, an average income of 85 million VND per person per year, and mobilize approximately 300 billion VND in social investment capital. The focus will be on developing high-tech agriculture, improving the quality of the new rural areas, promoting administrative reform, and attracting investment to create momentum for a breakthrough in the new development phase.
In the coming period, specialized units will focus on effectively implementing the 1 million hectare project, linking with businesses to develop coconut growing areas, promoting the winter-spring crop, dredging canals, and controlling saltwater intrusion. At the same time, localities will intensify efforts to promote environmental protection, prevent and control livestock diseases, and survey and construct new rural roads according to national target programs.
According to Mr. Quyển, with a solid foundation and a determination to innovate, Tập Ngãi is asserting its position as a dynamic suburban commune, making a positive contribution to the overall development of Vĩnh Long province.
