In village 1 (Tra Cang commune, Nam Tra My), the consensus and joint efforts of the villagers helped complete the construction of the village community house (locals call it the quat house).
Ms. Truong Thi Luong - Party Cell Secretary, Village Head of Village 1 said: "The construction of a communal house as a common living space for villagers has been supported by the villagers.
Accordingly, people voluntarily donated land and contributed labor to build houses. Notably, the village elders closely monitored the implementation of the house model, decorative patterns... in accordance with the cultural traditions of the ethnic minorities here.
When there is a festival in the village, all the villagers gather in the common area, wear traditional costumes, and organize folk singing activities... so that future generations can understand and join hands to preserve it.
As the village elder Ho Van Thap - a lithophone artisan (village 2, Tra Cang commune) said: "In addition to the time spent in the fields, I take the time to wade through streams and climb steep cliffs to find thin, suitable stones with good sound to restore the lithophone of my people.
When I go looking for stones, I often bring young people from the village along to show them the steps of making a lithophone. When I return to the village, I take advantage of the night to pass on the melodies to the younger generation, because if I don’t do it soon, it will be very difficult to preserve cultural values in the face of increasing decline.”
In Tra Cang commune, from 2020 to now, thanks to the joint efforts of the people, the commune has collected valuable cultural items. These are everyday items such as teo, basket, winnowing basket, let, lithophone, to rung zither...
Mr. Nguyen Do Tri - Vice Chairman of Tra Cang Commune People's Committee said that the commune has restored the water trough worshiping festival, in addition to the new rice celebration festival of the Xo Dang people.
Some traditional occupations have also been restored, such as making rice wine with traditional yeast, weaving brocade, and Xo Dang ethnic antiphonal singing. In preserving culture, the participation of the people plays a very important role, contributing labor, artifacts, indigenous knowledge, etc.
This contributes to preserving and promoting cultural values for tourism , gradually improving people's lives. In addition to the investment of the State, the people play a leading role in preserving national culture, it is the people's strength to restore their national identity that brings positive and sustainable results.
