In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM plans to enroll 40 full-time undergraduate majors with about 5,550 students. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology only uses 2 admission methods, in which the school reserves up to 99% of the total enrollment quota for the comprehensive admission method.
Method 1 is direct admission according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, from 1-5% of total enrollment quota.
Object:
Subject 1 (stipulated in Clause 1, Article 8 of the 2022 Admission Regulations): Labor Heroes, People's Armed Forces Heroes, National Emulation Fighters are directly admitted to the school's majors and programs.
Subject 2 (stipulated in Point a, Clause 2, Article 8 of the 2022 Admission Regulations): Candidates who won first, second, or third prizes in national or international excellent student competitions or national or international science and technology competitions organized and sent to participate by the Ministry of Education and Training; the time of winning the prize is not more than 3 years from the time of direct admission; have graduated from high school and are eligible to apply for direct admission to university according to the following groups of majors/majors suitable for the subjects won/participated in:

Method 2 is a comprehensive admission, from 95 - 99% of total enrollment quota.
Object:
Subject 1: Candidates with the results of the 2025 HCM National University Competency Assessment Exam
Subject 2: In case candidates do not have the results of the 2025 HCM National University Competency Assessment Exam
Subject 3: Candidates who graduated from high school abroad
Subject 4: In case candidates use International Admission Certificate
Subject 5: Case of considering candidates for the School's Australia/USA/New Zealand International Transfer Program.
Admission requirements
Quality assurance threshold (according to total admission score): 50 points (scale of 100).
Admission score
[Admission Score] = [Academic Score](1) + [Priority Score](2), 100-point scale
In there:
Academic score(1)
100-point scale, rounded to 0.01 for each component and rounded to 0.01 for the total score
[Academic score] = [Ability score] × 70% + [Converted high school graduation score] × 20% + [Converted high school graduation score] × 10%
Subject 1 : Candidates with the results of the 2025 HCM National University Competency Assessment Exam
[Ability score] = [Academic score with Math coefficient × 2] / 15 (1500 scale converted to 100 scale)
[Converted TNTHPT score] = [Total score of 3 TNTHPT subjects in the combination] / 3 × 10
[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 average grades of subjects in the group] × 10
In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 01 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 08 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 09 score columns).
Subject 2 : Candidates who do NOT have the results of the 2025 HCM National University Competency Assessment Exam
[Ability score] = [Converted TNTHPT score] × 0.75
[Converted TNTHPT score] = [Total score of 3 TNTHPT subjects in the combination] / 3 × 10
[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 average grades of subjects in the group] × 10
In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 01 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 08 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 09 score columns).
Subject 3 : Candidates who graduated from foreign high schools
[Ability score] = [Converted high school score]
[Converted TNTHPT points]:
Candidates from countries that DO have graduation exams: convert candidates' exam scores to a 100-point scale.
Candidates from countries that do NOT have high school graduation exams: [Converted high school graduation exam score] = [Converted high school study score]
[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 average grades of subjects in the group], converted to a 100-point scale.
Note:
The candidate's high school graduation exam year must not be more than 2 years from the year of application.
In case a candidate lacks a subject in the admission combination, the candidate will have fewer score columns than a normal candidate (with 09 score columns).
Subject 4 : Candidates using International Admission Certificate
[Ability score] = [International Admissions Certificate score]
[Converted TNTHPT score] = [Total score of 3 TNTHPT subjects] / 3 × 10
[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 average grades of subjects in the group] × 10
[International Admissions Certificate Score] is calculated according to the following table:

Regarding the principles of converting scores between international admission certificates in the table above:
- Conversion table from ACT to SAT scores from testing unit: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/scores/act-sat-concordance.html
- Conversion table of scores from A-Level to a 100-point scale from the examination unit: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/programmes-and-qualifications/recognition-and-acceptance/guidance-for-universities/
- Other international certificates not shown in the above table will be considered and approved by the Admissions Board on a case-by-case basis.
- The candidate's year of taking the international admission certificate exam must not be more than 02 years from the year of application.
- In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 01 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 08 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 09 score columns).
- In case of candidates graduating from high school abroad, [Converted High School Graduation Score] and [Converted High School Study Score] are the same as subject 3.
Subject 5 : Candidates for the School's Australia/USA/New Zealand International Transfer Program
[Ability score] = [Interview score] × 0.5 + [Essay score] × 0.3 + [Converted CCTA score] × 0.2
[Converted TNTHPT score] = [Total score of 3 TNTHPT subjects] / 3 × 10
[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 average grades of subjects in the group] × 10
[Converted CCTA points] are calculated according to the following table:

Note:
- The candidate's [Interview score] must be 70/100 points or higher.
- In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 01 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 08 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 09 score columns).
- In case of candidates graduating from high school abroad, [Converted High School Graduation Score] and [Converted High School Study Score] will be calculated as prescribed in Subject 3.
Priority points (2)
1) Candidates with [Academic score] < 75 points: Priority score = [Converted priority score]
2) Candidates with [Academic score] ≥ 75 points: Priority score = (100 - [Academic score])/25 × [Converted priority score], rounded to 0.01
In which, the priority points converted are calculated as follows:
Priority points converted = [Achievement priority points] + [Region target area priority points]
• Priority points for achievements (other achievements, literature-sports-arts, social activities): maximum 10 points
• Priority points for target areas: maximum 9.17 points, scale of 100 (converted from maximum 2.75 points, scale of 30 according to the Ministry's regulations).
• The total priority points converted when exceeding 10 will be taken as 10.
