The hospital has developed all three specialties: Eyes, Ear - Nose - Throat and Maxillofacial, contributing to improving the quality of specialized medical examination and treatment and reducing the burden on upper-level hospitals, reducing costs for patients. The development of technical expertise is relatively even, 519 techniques have been performed according to the level, with 28 techniques beyond the level. The level of doctors and technicians is constantly improved in accessing and using modern specialized equipment.
The hospital has a scale of 70 planned beds and 76 actual beds. Every day, the hospital examines an average of 400 outpatients and an average of 60 inpatients. The bed utilization rate is 80 - 100%. The hospital has 130 staff, civil servants, 27 doctors, 4 clinical departments, 1 paraclinical department, 1 pharmacy department, and 6 functional rooms. With a team of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, technicians who love their jobs, have high expertise and experience, along with advanced techniques and a modern equipment system, the hospital has brought a better quality of life to the community. The hospital has implemented a cashless hospital fee payment service, facilitating medical examination and treatment, reforming administrative procedures quickly and conveniently, contributing to improving the quality of patient service. In 2023, the hospital received 93,470 patients for examination and treatment, increasing to 95,409 in 2024, with 10,593 inpatients. In 2 years (2023 - 2024), more than 28,200 surgeries were performed; 103,600 general tests; more than 64,000 endoscopy; more than 23,000 X-rays; more than 25,000 eye ultrasounds.
The hospital also trains medical staff and is a practice facility for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Medical College... Participates in research projects on public health and epidemiology in the province's health care. At the same time, provides technical guidance to lower levels; implements diagnostic and treatment protocols and technical procedures. Successfully implements 2 programs to prevent and combat blindness in the province; is a member of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Project to improve the capacity of dental and maxillofacial examination and treatment and prevent oral diseases in the community for the period 2022 - 2030 in An Giang.
Deploying electronic medical records
Determining that the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment activities brings great benefits in patient management, facilitating medical staff to perform their professional tasks well, improving the quality of care and treatment, the hospital has implemented electronic medical records and has been recognized by the Appraisal Council as meeting the standards for implementing electronic medical records. Using and storing electronic medical records to replace paper medical records, storing and transmitting medical images instead of printing films, storing test information instead of printing paper.
To implement this, the hospital team, with the active support of the software provider VNPT An Giang, has made efforts to deploy many key tasks to implement electronic medical records. Proactively plan to implement EMR electronic medical records in medical examination and treatment. In particular, reviewing and investing in infrastructure and information technology equipment; deploying digital signatures, electronic signatures; deploying electronic medical records; the VNPT LIS automatic test result management system reaching an advanced level; deploying the VNPT RIS/PACS medical image management system reaching an advanced level; deploying the HIS hospital management information system reaching level 6... At the same time, deploying non-cash hospital fee payment using QR codes; thoroughly applying information technology to all activities at the unit, in order to improve service quality, build a friendly working environment, and scientific medical examination and treatment processes.
Dr. Ma Lan Thanh said that the hospital has invested in using software for medical examination and treatment management since 2009 from service providers Medisoft and VNPT_HIS. The software has well met the needs of medical examination and treatment management and health insurance settlement at the unit. However, there is no Electronic Medical Record function yet. The implementation of Electronic Medical Record is for the hospital to innovate, equip an advanced working tool to change the "quality" of management and operation in a smart, modern direction. Administrative procedures are resolved more quickly, patient management is more scientific, faster and more accurate, meeting the needs of service and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people.
