Mr. Quang "red cross"
Although he is 70 years old, Mr. Nguyen Huu Quang - Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Binh Phuc commune still looks agile and full of enthusiasm in social work and village and hamlet affairs.
Mr. Quang is currently Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Tat Vien Village, and Chairman of the Red Cross Association of Binh Phuc Commune. In every role, he strives to fulfill his tasks well, is recognized by the leaders, and is trusted and admired by the people.
As of 2025, Mr. Quang has been the Chairman of the Binh Phuc Commune Red Cross Association for more than 15 years. That was also the time when he and members of the executive committee and the commune’s Red Cross associations made efforts to propagate, mobilize, and care for families, people, and students in difficult circumstances in the locality and participated in volunteer activities across the country.
“Humanitarian gifts are a silent act of giving from the giver, but they must be given to the right recipient, to the right address, and on time. Therefore, while directly surveying and classifying each difficult situation, I proactively build a plan and find appropriate resources to help,” Mr. Quang shared.
In his newly built level 4 house, Mr. Le Trai (90 years old) in Ngoc Son Dong village, Binh Phuc commune, kept thanking those who helped him. In previous years, from the Fund for the Poor, he was selected several times for support to build a house, but due to his old age and his family's financial difficulties, he did not have enough funds to cover the cost.
It was not until the end of 2024, with the support of 50 million VND from the District Humanitarian Fund, that Mr. Nguyen Huu Quang called on benefactors to support 20 million VND to help Mr. Trai build a house. Now, the house with an area of 32m2 with a solid bedroom, ensuring the criteria of avoiding storms and rains, has helped him enjoy his old age with peace of mind.
“Thanks to Mr. Quang CTĐ raising more money, I now have a solid house to live in. I am old and have a new house, I am very happy,” said Mr. Trai.
Thanks to his efforts to connect and mobilize support sources for building humanitarian houses, each year, Mr. Quang and the commune's associations and organizations call for more than 500 million VND to help poor and near-poor households, people in difficult circumstances, and disadvantaged people to rise up.
Wholeheartedly for the people
Not only doing well in humanitarian and charity work, Mr. Nguyen Huu Quang has also taken on the role of Head of Tat Vien Village since 2016. With the motto "do easy things first, difficult things later, do things firmly", he has brought many policies of the Party and State to the people.
Especially in mobilizing people to successfully build 10 criteria for building a model new rural village; up to now, the whole village has reduced to 3.08% of poor households, the average income per capita has reached 51.5 million VND/year, and has been recognized as a cultural village for 6 consecutive years.
In building a new rural area, the most difficult criterion is traffic, but with a sense of responsibility, Mr. Quang has promoted and mobilized people to participate in donating land, construction materials, and working days to build roads.
Many rural and intra-field roads have received high approval from all walks of life, especially the elderly. Among them, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan (nearly 90 years old) contributed 10 million VND of his savings to upgrade and expand village roads to help people travel conveniently.
Mr. Le Thong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Binh Phuc commune said that for many years, Tat Vien village Party Cell has been recognized as a "Strong and Clean Party Cell"; in particular, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell - Village Head Nguyen Huu Quang was awarded a certificate of merit by the Party Committee of Thang Binh district for being a party member who has excellently completed his tasks for 5 consecutive years (2020 - 2024), a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for exemplary village heads and many certificates of merit in association activities and the Red Cross movement.
“During his work, in whatever position or role, Mr. Quang was trusted by his superiors and loved by the people. He always devoted himself to the Party, served the people, and developed the village. Particularly in his position as Chairman of the Commune Red Cross Association, he connected and mobilized to help many disadvantaged people rise up,” said Mr. Le Thong.
