Que Son has more than 13 thousand elderly people achieving the title "Old age - bright example"

(QNO) - On the morning of June 5, the Representative Board of the Elderly Association of Que Son district summarized 5 years of implementing the patriotic emulation movement "Old age - bright example" for the period 2021 - 2025 and met to celebrate the 84th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Elderly (June 6, 1941 - June 6, 2025).

Que Son district currently has 17,932 elderly members, accounting for 92% of the total number of elderly in the area. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the District Elderly Association Representative Board launched the "Old age - bright example" movement and made efforts to implement activities to care for the lives of the elderly.

The association at all levels mobilized to present 2,427 gifts, 7 gratitude houses, 135 savings books with a total cost of 720 million VND to the elderly in difficult circumstances. Coordinated to provide health check-ups for 3,500 elderly people, free eye surgery for 368 elderly people, and organized longevity celebrations in accordance with regulations.

To date, the association at all levels has built 55 health clubs, 22 volleyball clubs, 7 chess clubs, 8 poetry clubs, and 21 intergenerational self-help clubs.

Over the past 5 years, the elderly in communes and towns have voluntarily donated nearly 20,000 square meters of land, contributed more than 19,000 working days and 132 million VND to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

The district currently has 431 elderly people recognized as good producers and businessmen at the provincial, district and communal levels. There are 1,273 elderly people participating in the movement to encourage learning and talent and mobilize nearly 1,300 gifts for students who overcome difficulties and excel in their studies.

Through evaluation, Que Son currently has more than 13 thousand elderly people achieving the title "Old age - shining example"; of which 1,050 are typical shining examples at the grassroots level.

On this occasion, the District Elderly Association's Representative Board awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 3 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement "Old age - bright example" for the period 2021 - 2025.
