Local leaders and sponsors performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Coi Ba canal bridge.
This is one of the projects to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and towards the 40th anniversary of Thanh Nien Newspaper's first issue.
Journalist Lam Hieu Dung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Chairman of Thanh Nien Newspaper Trade Union, representative of sponsors spoke at the ceremony, thanking the sponsors.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of Tran Van Thoi District Party Committee; Ms. Nguyen Hong Tham, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.
On the sponsor side, there were Mr. Nguyen Duc Lien, Communications Advisor of Kim Oanh Group, Honorary Chairman of the Heart Start-up Fund; Mr. Duong Minh Thang, representative of Vietnam Waste Treatment Company Limited; Ms. Tran Thi Quyt, Regional Sales Director of FPT Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System.
Representing Thanh Nien Newspaper were Journalist Lam Hieu Dung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Chairman of the Trade Union; Journalist Duc Trung, Member of the Editorial Board, Secretary-in-Chief of the Editorial Board, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Thanh Nien Newspaper Journalists Association.
The bridge was built with a scale of 3.2 m wide, 39 m long, costing more than 800 million VND. Of which, Vietnam Waste Treatment Company Limited sponsored 200 million VND, Kim Oanh Group's Charity Start-up Fund sponsored 150 million VND, HDBank and Samsung each donated 100 million VND, FPT Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System donated 80 million VND, Momo, INSEE Cement, Thanh Nien Newspaper's Charity Fund and a philanthropist in Ho Chi Minh City donated 50 million VND.
Representatives of Thanh Nien Newspaper and sponsors presented symbolic plaques to support bridge construction costs and scholarships and gifts to the locality with a total value of more than 1 billion VND.
Representing the sponsoring unit, journalist Lam Hieu Dung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Chairman of the Thanh Nien Newspaper Trade Union, expressed his appreciation for the sponsors' trust and support in supporting the people of Tran Hoi commune. In the context of extremely difficult economic conditions , organizations, businesses and individuals still share resources to help the people. This is not simply material but also demonstrates the social responsibility and spirit of supporting fellow countrymen of the sponsors.
"The bridge is not too large in scale and value, but it is the heart, affection and responsibility of Thanh Nien Newspaper as well as the sponsors for the locality and the people. We hope that when completed, the project will not only help people travel more conveniently and safely, but also be a lever for the local economy to develop, especially a safe road for students to go to school every day to acquire knowledge, to later build and develop their homeland", Journalist Lam Hieu Dung shared.
Local representative, Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, Chairman of Tran Hoi Commune People's Committee, emotionally shared that the support of Thanh Nien Newspaper and sponsors to build the bridge is a great support for the commune, helping people travel easily and creating conditions for economic development.
Journalist Lam Hieu Dung, on behalf of philanthropists, presented scholarships to disadvantaged but excellent students.
The students were excited to receive gifts and scholarships.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Thanh Nien Newspaper, on behalf of the benefactors, awarded 51 scholarships to excellent students who have overcome difficulties, each worth 2 million VND and 1 carton of Kun Doctor milk sponsored by Lof International Dairy Joint Stock Company.
Each gift given to the people includes massage oil and necessities, worth about 500,000 VND.
At the same time, Thanh Nien Newspaper also presented 100 gifts to disadvantaged households in the locality, sponsored by Mr. Pham Hong Minh (often called "Mr. Minh the vegetable seller", residing in Dong Nai province) and the Vietnamese herbal massage oil brand Rong Lua.
