Forecasting future coffee price trends

Based on current developments, domestic and international coffee prices in the coming period (June 2025 and the medium term) are likely to continue to be under downward pressure. Domestically, although coffee prices on June 5, 2025 increased slightly by VND 100/kg, pressure from world prices, delayed domestic market response, and high competition with other exporting countries will make it difficult for prices to recover strongly. Compared to the same period last year, the current price is VND 8,500/kg higher, but the downward trend is still dominant if there is no sudden change in supply.

In the international market, Robusta and Arabica coffee prices are expected to continue to fluctuate. Although the recent appreciation of the Brazilian Real has triggered buying and selling activities, creating a short-term recovery signal, the pressure from abundant supply (especially from Brazil) and global economic fluctuations, such as the strengthening of the USD, will limit the increase. If buying power on the exchanges does not increase strongly, prices will find it difficult to escape the bottom in the medium term.

Main influencing factors:

Supply: Abundant global supply, especially from Brazil, continues to be the dominant factor, putting downward pressure on prices.

Economic turmoil: A strong dollar and high shipping costs, along with concerns about new tariffs, are weighing on purchasing power and exports.

Competition: Vietnamese coffee prices are higher than other exporting countries, making it difficult for domestic businesses to compete.

Recommendation: Coffee growers and businesses need to closely monitor price developments, especially the harvest progress in Brazil and purchasing power on the international market, to have a reasonable sales strategy and avoid selling off during low price periods.
