On the morning of September 28th, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and the Tan Phu District Police organized the "Launch Ceremony of the Student Volunteer Team Participating in Traffic Regulation and Propaganda, Implementing Digital Transformation in Fire Prevention and Fighting Management" in Tan Phu District, with approximately 500 volunteers participating.
According to Colonel Nghiem Xuan Ut, Head of Tan Phu District Police, the launch of the aforementioned student volunteer group is based on the Regulations on Coordination between Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and Tan Phu District Police in ensuring national security, social order and safety, and combating crime and other violations of the law (2024-2029).
Initially, the volunteer team will coordinate with traffic police to regulate and guide traffic, and educate people to strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, preventing people from encroaching on sidewalks and roadsides... at 5 intersections and 17 school locations with high traffic density in the district.
Regarding fire prevention and control, volunteers will be assigned to 11 wards, with two students per neighborhood. Through this, the students will guide and disseminate basic fire safety knowledge to residents; survey and collect data from individual households and production/business establishments, etc.
The purpose of collecting fire safety data is to develop software to better serve fire prevention and control efforts in the district. Once the software is completed, through the data app, management staff can easily identify the fire safety situation at each specific location. In the event of an incident, they will have a clear understanding of the terrain, escape routes, and available fire safety equipment, thereby enhancing fire safety measures and avoiding being caught off guard when an incident occurs.
From the perspective of citizens and businesses, the app also makes it easy to update necessary information about fire prevention and control, the fire safety situation in their area, and their neighborhood.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said: "With a highly qualified teaching staff and over 35,000 students, the aforementioned collaboration will certainly yield positive results. In particular, the data collection and software development for fire prevention and control is expected to be a useful tool, contributing to improved efficiency in fire prevention and control, bringing practical benefits to real life, and minimizing damage caused by fires and explosions."
Mr. Nguyen Minh Chanh, Vice Chairman of the Tan Phu District People's Committee, stated that traffic safety and fire prevention efforts in the district have yielded positive results. However, potential risks remain, particularly during peak hours. Therefore, coordination between the two units is crucial. To ensure effective coordination, the Tan Phu District leadership requested that the collaboration be implemented synchronously, with the leaders of the 11 wards and schools in the district cooperating to effectively carry out all relevant tasks.
