Building Phu Quoc 'bright, green, clean, beautiful' to welcome APEC 2027

On the afternoon of November 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with ministries, branches and An Giang province on implementing infrastructure projects in preparation for the APEC Summit in 2027.

The report at the meeting said that to serve the APEC 2027 conference, An Giang province proposed and decided to implement 21 infrastructure projects in Phu Quoc special zone, including 10 public investment projects and 11 projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the implementation of projects and works serving APEC is important and urgent. For 10 works and projects that still have difficulties and problems, the Prime Minister assigned An Giang province to be the investor of the projects: construction of wastewater treatment plants in the form of investment and business, in case of problems, implementation in the form of public investment, completing procedures in November 2025.

For projects and works that must be invested in the form of BT, BOT, the procedures must be completed by the end of November. If they exceed the authority or have difficulties or problems, An Giang province must report to the Government. Main road projects are implemented in the form of public investment from the central budget and local budgets. For urban railway projects implemented in the form of PPP, the Prime Minister requested that they be implemented in the spirit of harmonizing the interests of the people, the State, and enterprises, and sharing the risks. The Prime Minister also noted that the project to improve the environmental landscape of Phu Quoc special economic zone needs to be implemented in the spirit of "bright, green, clean, beautiful" so that international friends can witness and enjoy the beautiful nature of Vietnam.
