Armed forces promptly brought people in low-lying areas to medical facilities for treatment.

Ahead is the People

In deeply flooded areas, many families need urgent support. The Regional Defense Commands and Military Commands of communes and wards quickly mobilized hundreds of officers, soldiers, regular troops, militia and many vehicles to quickly cross flood waters to support the seizure of property and evacuate people to safe, high shelters; in which many cases of illness and maternity were supported and taken to medical facilities in time.

Mr. Nguyen Dung, husband of Mrs. Tran Thi Oanh (born in 1952, Dong Xuyen, Quang Dien commune) - who was just promptly taken to the emergency room by the military, shared: The children are working far away, there are only the two of us at home, so when his wife started to get sick, we were very worried, especially when the floodwaters rose. Luckily, the soldiers and militiamen of the commune were able to overcome the flood in time to help take her to the medical station for examination. My family is very grateful, I would like to thank the militiamen and soldiers very much.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc, Commander of the Defense Command of Area 3 - Phu Loc informed: In the face of deep flooding caused by heavy rains and floods, the unit has mobilized maximum staff, employees, and vehicles to coordinate with the Commune Military Commands to quickly move to the areas to help people. We have coordinated to evacuate hundreds of households with thousands of people from low-lying areas at risk of landslides to safe shelters. At the same time, the unit has supported hundreds of boxes of instant noodles, dry food, and drinking water to the people.

During the recent floods, agencies and units proactively mobilized officers, soldiers, militia forces and vehicles to urgently go to low-lying areas to help people raise their belongings and assets; organized the evacuation of nearly 2,500 households, with nearly 7,000 people; supported the transportation and evacuation of international guests stranded in flooded hotels to safety. Notably, the army mobilized forces to evacuate elderly patients who were unable to move themselves and were being treated at the Rehabilitation Hospital 2 to ensure safety; mobilized forces overnight to support Hue Central Hospital in moving patients, loading, unloading, raising, and moving specialized equipment, machinery systems, pharmaceuticals and medical instruments to safe locations.

Solid support

Colonel Le Huy Nghia, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the City Military Command, said: The City Military Command identifies natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue as the combat mission of the armed forces in peacetime. With the spirit of determination, urgency, timeliness, early and remote prevention and control to minimize human and property damage, we advise the city leaders to mobilize the entire political system to participate. In particular, taking the armed forces as the core, closely following the locality, closely following the base, mobilizing all resources to the maximum, ensuring good access to the people, going deep into each key area, low-lying areas, isolated areas, ready to handle emergency situations from the base and the people.

With the spirit of indomitability, steadfastness, and not retreating in the face of difficulties and dangers, the city's officers, soldiers, and militia are always ready to stand guard over the area, regardless of day or night in rainy and cold conditions, promptly mobilizing maximum forces and means to support and rescue people from danger. To respond to and overcome the consequences of the recent historic flood, the City Military Command has mobilized nearly 45,000 officers and soldiers; including more than 8,500 regular soldiers, more than 35,000 militiamen, nearly 1,500 vehicles and equipment, and mobilized maximum types of materials and tools to support the area to help people.

The flood has left behind mud and garbage, polluting the environment and affecting the lives of the people. The city's armed forces continue to work with forces from the entire political system and the people to clean up mud, collect garbage, and clean up the environment on the streets, schools, and medical facilities, helping people stabilize their lives soon, helping students return to school soon, and hospitals and medical facilities return to providing health care for the people soon.

With the iron determination, sentiment and responsibility of a revolutionary soldier, the Hue City Armed Forces have promoted their role and responsibility well, not afraid of difficulties, wading through the rain and floods, rushing to difficult places, excellently completing the task of rescuing, supporting and helping the people in times of danger. With the spirit of "the people are in front", the Armed Forces have contributed to the people of the city to overcome the historic days of rain and floods, which further enhances the beautiful image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era, truly a solid support, always ready for the peace and happiness of the people.
