Removing temporary and dilapidated houses for people with meritorious services in Phu Thong: July gratitude

Each new house not only brings safety and warmth, but also a deep gratitude to those who have sacrificed their youth and health for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. With the drastic participation of the Party Committee and the government, along with the active response of the people, Phu Thong commune (Thai Nguyen province) has completed the support of building houses for people with meritorious services ahead of schedule, right on the occasion of July - the Month of Gratitude.

Thanks to a new house built through the temporary housing elimination program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh can feel secure in her old age.

Implementing the policy of supporting the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for people with revolutionary contributions, Phu Thong commune has 10 cases eligible for support in 2025. Of which, 2 households were supported to build new houses, 8 households were supported to repair. By the end of June, all the houses were completed, ensuring quality and progress, helping families stabilize their housing before the rainy season.

The new house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Nga Ba residential group, is one of two cases receiving support for new construction. A former youth volunteer during the anti-American war, Mrs. Thanh and her husband served in the logistics line of the battlefield. Her husband died early, her children went to work far away, and for many years she lived alone in a seriously degraded level 4 house. She was very happy to receive support for building a new house, because from now on she has a more stable place to live, more secure when she is old and weak.

As for Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuc, also on Nga Ba Street, a war invalid who fought in the Southern battlefield, receiving support to repair his house under the program helps him worry less when it rains and winds. Mr. Thuc shared that for many years he has not been able to repair it, but now that the State and local authorities are supporting him, he feels very warm-hearted and secure to live out his old age.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc is a war invalid who received 30 million VND in support to repair his house.

To achieve this result, Phu Thong commune mobilized the entire political system to take part, proactively and carefully reviewing each case, ensuring the right subjects, transparency. In addition to support from the State, many households also received help from the community in terms of working days and construction materials.

Mr. Dam Manh Cuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Thong Commune, said: The commune determined that eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for people with meritorious services is a key political task, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source". During the implementation process, thanks to the close coordination between organizations and the consensus of the people, all 10 houses for people with meritorious services in the area were completed ahead of schedule.

The completion of housing support for people with meritorious services not only helps stabilize the lives of policy households, but also demonstrates the sense of responsibility and affection of the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Thong commune towards families of war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution, said Mr. Dam Manh Cuong.
