On the afternoon of June 21, a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that the unit has decided to temporarily suspend passenger transport services by taxi at the airport for two violating taxi companies, Saigon Taxi Transport Company Limited and Saigon Tourist Transport Joint Stock Company. The suspension period starts from June 22 until further notice.
The decision was made based on an urgent meeting this afternoon chaired by Mr. Nguyen Nam Tien - Deputy Director of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, to propose a form of handling for taxi units violating operations at the port.
“These two units have greatly affected the reputation, image and brand of Tan Son Nhat International Airport,” the representative said.
Yesterday (June 20), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam sent a dispatch to the Southern Airport Authority and Tan Son Nhat International Airport regarding strengthening security and order and handling illegal taxis and taxi fare fraud at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested the Southern Airports Authority to review and supplement the plan to strengthen inspection and supervision of the provision of services by taxi and technology car companies licensed to operate at the airport and to strictly handle cases where company employees solicit or force customers to pay higher prices or hand them over to competent authorities when detecting taxi price fraud.

As reported by VietNamNet, on June 19, the HCM City Department of Transport Inspectorate coordinated with Tan Son Nhat Police Station and Tan Son Nhat Airport Security to inspect and discover two taxi drivers cheating on fares when transporting passengers.
In particular, taxi with license plate 51F-595.26 belonging to Saigon Tourist Transport Joint Stock Company, driven by driver Nguyen TM, installed an auxiliary switch under the gear lever. The driver committed fare fraud (the actual fare was 54,000 VND but charged the customer 540,000 VND, 10 times more) after manipulating the auxiliary switch, causing the fare to be incorrect.
Taxi with license plate 60E-00734 of Saigon Cheap (Cheap Taxi) company belonging to Saigon Taxi Transport Company Limited, Binh Thuan branch, driven by Mr. Tran QT, was also found to have similar errors by the working group.
The Department of Transport Inspectorate fined the two cases a total of 11 million VND and revoked their taxi badges for 2 months.
