Punish companies for discharging wastewater exceeding standards into the environment

According to information from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, on August 25, 2023, the Chief Inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment issued a decision to inspect the compliance with legal regulations in the field of environmental protection for Thanh Truc Import-Export Garment Company Limited.

On September 29, 2023, the Chief Inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment issued the Inspection Conclusion.

Accordingly, through the inspection, the Inspection Team took samples of wastewater discharged from the company. The analysis results showed that 3 parameters exceeded the National Technical Regulations on Industrial Wastewater. From there, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment issued a decision to impose an administrative penalty on Thanh Truc Import-Export Garment Company Limited with a total fine of over 79.5 million VND.

Thanh Truc Import Export Garment Company Ltd. has promptly fixed the wastewater leakage and collected all generated wastewater for treatment according to regulations before discharging into the environment.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment requires that Thanh Truc Import Export Garment Company Limited, during its operations, must ensure that all wastewater generated is thoroughly collected and brought to the wastewater treatment system for treatment, ensuring that the treated wastewater meets the National Technical Regulations on Industrial Wastewater before being discharged into the environment. It is absolutely forbidden to discharge untreated wastewater or wastewater that has not met the prescribed standards into the environment in any form.

In the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee will continue to assign the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with other sectors and the People's Committee of Tan An City to regularly monitor the operations of Thanh Truc Import-Export Garment Company Limited. In case the company is found to discharge wastewater exceeding the prescribed standards, it will be strictly handled according to the provisions of law.

Previously, through contact with People's Council delegates, voters also reported that Thanh Truc Import-Export Garment Company Limited discharged waste causing environmental pollution./.
