The Minister of Agriculture and Environment presented gifts to impoverished households in Chiềng Sơn commune.

In the biting cold of the year-end days, following the delegations visiting and giving gifts to the people in the border commune of Chiềng Sơn, I clearly felt the joy of the people when they received care and support during the Tet holiday. Receiving Tet gifts from the Party and State leaders, Mr. Sồng A Lầu, a poor household in Nặm Dên village, said emotionally: "I live alone and only cultivate a small amount of land, so life is still very difficult. I am very happy to receive the Party and State's care, visits, and gifts; my family can celebrate Tet more warmly."

Chieng Son is a border commune where seven ethnic groups live together. The commune has 32 families receiving social welfare benefits; 224 poor households; 99 near-poor households; 132 social welfare beneficiaries; 129 social pensioners; and 142 elderly people. Recognizing that ensuring a happy Tet (Lunar New Year) for the people is a top priority, the commune has developed a plan early on, thoroughly reviewing all eligible beneficiaries, poor households, and near-poor households to provide timely support.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented gifts to families entitled to preferential policies and poor households in Chiềng Sơn commune.

Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Son commune, said: "With the motto 'No poor household or household with particularly difficult circumstances should be without a Tet celebration,' the commune has mobilized all resources and organized the distribution of Tet gifts to the right recipients, ensuring transparency and openness. Through these gifts, the care and sharing have enabled each family to have a warm and joyful Tet celebration; thereby strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the local government, creating motivation for people to work with peace of mind, develop the economy , and build increasingly prosperous villages."

Since the beginning of the year, Chiềng Sơn commune has received and distributed over 2,300 Tet gifts, totaling over 1.2 billion VND, to policy beneficiaries, war veterans, poor households, and social welfare recipients. Alongside this, the work of eliminating temporary housing has been implemented vigorously. In 2025, the commune mobilized support for the construction and repair of 39 solidarity houses, with a total budget of over 1.8 billion VND, helping people settle down and celebrate Tet with peace of mind.

The soldiers in green uniforms have made a significant contribution to bringing the joy of Tet (Lunar New Year) to the people of Chieng Son. Through the program "Spring at the Border Guard Station, Warming the Hearts of the Villagers," the Chieng Son Border Guard Station, in coordination with the local Party committee, government, and sponsoring units, organized many meaningful activities. Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Van Quang, Commander of the Chieng Son Border Guard Station, said: The unit coordinated the donation of Tet gifts to poor households, families with preferential policies, and students with difficult circumstances in the area, with a total value of over 1 billion VND. In addition, the unit strictly maintained a state of combat readiness, organized forces to monitor the area 24/7 before, during, and after Tet, proactively coordinating to promptly handle situations and maintain peace in the border area.

Mr. Hoang Van Xoan, a poor household in Phach village, held meaningful Tet gifts in his hands and emotionally shared: "My family has four members, and we are struggling financially, relying only on over 1,000 square meters of rice fields, so we are classified as a poor household. Receiving Tet gifts is a great motivation for us to work hard and strive to escape poverty in the new year."

Not only Mr. Xoan's family, but also other policy beneficiary households in the highland and border villages of Chieng Son are feeling the warmth of spring through practical gifts from delegations from the central government, the province, and philanthropists.

A new spring has arrived in the border region of Chieng Son. The timely attention of the Party, the State, the local Party committee and government, along with the support of organizations and individuals, has brought a warm and meaningful Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) to the ethnic people in this border area.
