In the bustling atmosphere of the days before the traditional New Year of the nation, on the evening of January 17, in the capital Phnom Penh, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia organized the meeting program "Spring Homeland 2025" to bring a spirit of Tet reunion, connect the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, as well as strengthen solidarity and friendship between the two countries and the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia.
The meeting program “Spring Homeland 2025” had the participation of many Cambodian-Vietnamese people in many localities in the “Land of Pagodas”, Vietnamese and Khmer-Vietnamese businesses, Vietnamese students studying in Cambodia, officials and employees of the Embassy and agencies next to the Embassy, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Preah Sihanouk and Battambang provinces.
The atmosphere of the program "Homeland Spring 2025" of Vietnamese people in Cambodia became even warmer when there was the joyful celebration of Tet by representatives of leaders of localities and border units of Vietnam, especially friends in the host country and internationally.
On the side of Cambodian and international friends, there were Samdech Men Sam An, Direct Supreme Advisor to the King of Cambodia, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Mayor of Phnom Penh Khuon Sreng, along with many guests, leaders of several ministries and branches of Cambodia, the Lao Embassy in Cambodia, the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia (KVA), the Vietnam-Cambodia Business Association (VCBA), the Association of Cambodian Alumni studying in Vietnam (CAVA)...
In the joyful atmosphere welcoming the Spring of 2025, the new Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu reviewed the outstanding achievements in economic , social and foreign affairs development of Vietnam and Cambodia in 2024, emphasizing that the relationship of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" between Vietnam and Cambodia has been constantly consolidated and enhanced, especially through high-level visits by King Norodom Sihamoni and President of the Senate, President of the CPP Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Vietnam, as well as the visit of President To Lam and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to Cambodia.
Economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries continue to grow with a trade turnover of 10.1 billion USD in 2024. Vietnam is Cambodia's third largest trading partner and also its third largest investor.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his joy at seeing that the community of more than 100,000 Cambodians of Vietnamese origin, despite many difficulties, always strive to integrate into the local society, contribute to the development and prosperity of Cambodia, as well as foster the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship; always support and care for each other and look towards the homeland, typically by donating to support people in localities affected by Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3).
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu also highly appreciated Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia for making important contributions to Cambodia's development and providing great support to Vietnamese Cambodians.
On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his sincere thanks to the State, Government and people of Cambodia for always creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to do business, live stably, and contribute to the development of Cambodia.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that 2025 is an important year for Vietnam to prepare to enter the era of national development. Preparing to welcome a new spring, the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and the entire Vietnamese community will strive to contribute to the development of each country as well as the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.
Attending and speaking at the program, Samdech Men Sam An, Direct Supreme Advisor to the King of Cambodia, Vice President of the CPP, President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, highly appreciated the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia for always maintaining close coordination with the Royal Government of Cambodia in promoting the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Men Sam An announced that on January 7, the Kingdom of Cambodia solemnly held a rally to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the January 7 victory.
Speaking at the ceremony, CPP President Samdech Techo Hun Sen once again expressed his gratitude to the country and Vietnamese leaders for supporting the building of the Cambodian army and sending Vietnamese volunteer soldiers to help liberate Cambodia from the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
The CPP President also expressed his gratitude to the international community for their efforts to seek peace for the Cambodian people within the framework of the United Nations and to Cambodia's friendly countries, which have continued to strengthen and further expand effective cooperative relations for the cause of peace, democracy and development of Cambodia.
Samdech Men Sam An emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries sharing land and sea borders, similar traditions and customs, and drinking the same water from the Mekong River. These are important factors that make the people of the two countries have close neighborly feelings and a priceless, inseparable traditional strategic friendship.
Ms. Men Sam An said that the two countries have gone through resistance wars, fought side by side to defeat the common enemy, achieved historic victories, brought about independence, peace, national unity and development in all fields; and achieved great and comprehensive achievements during the 58 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Warmly congratulating the great achievements and victories of the Vietnamese Government under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the CPP Vice President said that Vietnam is developing strongly in all fields, especially in agriculture, industry, tourism, trade and technology. Cambodia wishes to learn and draw valuable experiences from Vietnam.
Within the framework of the program, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia awarded certificates of merit to groups and individuals with many achievements in actively contributing to community work, doing well in humanitarian charity work, and contributing to fostering friendship between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia.
In addition, the Embassy presented gifts to meritorious families and 300 gifts to poor Vietnamese households in difficult circumstances in provinces and cities of Cambodia, contributing to helping people celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 more warmly, fully and happily.
The performances by Vietnamese students, overseas students, as well as officials and staff of the Embassy, and the dishes with rich Vietnamese culinary flavors brought a warm Spring atmosphere to Vietnamese people and Vietnamese people working, doing business, studying and living in the "Land of Pagodas"./.
