Xuan Son returns to the Vietnam national team

On November 6, head coach Kim Sang Sik announced the list of 23 players of the Vietnamese national team to prepare for the match against the Lao national team in the second leg of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. The whole team will gather on November 10 in Viet Tri (Phu Tho) and is expected to leave for Laos on November 15.

This time the list has two new faces: center back Khong Minh Gia Bao ( Ho Chi Minh City Police) and striker Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong (Becamex Ho Chi Minh City). These are all young players who are performing well at their clubs, promising to bring necessary additions to the team.

A notable highlight is the return of striker Nguyen Xuan Son after nearly a year of injury treatment. This striker's full recovery and return helps the team's attack have more quality options in the context of a tight schedule and high competition requirements.

Khong Minh Gia Bao, born in 2000, is a strong central defender with good tackling and tackling abilities, who played for the Vietnam U20 team. Growing up in the People's Public Security training system, he played at Phu Dong Ninh Binh and Quang Nam before joining the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security.

Viet Cuong, also born in 2000, is a product of the Becamex Binh Duong training center, known for his speed, technique and diverse finishing ability. He has played for the U16 and U23 Vietnam teams and is currently a prominent factor in the Becamex Ho Chi Minh City team.

This gathering took place at the same time as the Vietnam U22 team was preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, so some young players who were previously called up to the national team were temporarily absent.

However, coach Kim Sang Sik still maintains stability in the squad, harmoniously combining experienced pillars and high-performing players at the club.

With a balanced squad and determination, the Vietnamese team aims to win all 3 points against Laos, thereby consolidating their advantage in the race to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals.

After winning 5-0 against Laos in the first leg, the Vietnamese team will meet this opponent again in the second leg on November 18.
