Publishing Phu Yen Province Culinary Culture

The Writers Association Publishing House has just released to readers the book Phu Yen Province's Culinary Culture by author Nguyen Van Hien, former Director of Phu Yen Department of Culture and Information, member of Phu Yen Province's Literature and Arts Association, member of Vietnam Folklore Arts Association. The book is nearly 290 pages thick, 14.5x20.5cm in size.

Through many years of fieldwork, research, and collection, folklore researcher Nguyen Van Hien has completed the work Phu Yen Province's Culinary Culture, consisting of 3 chapters. Chapter I discusses the basic factors that form the culinary habits of Phu Yen people.

Chapter II talks about the daily meals and dishes of Phu Yen people. Chapter III is the main chapter, talking about how to prepare and enjoy some culinary dishes. In this chapter, the author divides it into 15 sections with 254 dishes and drinks in Phu Yen province, such as: rice dishes, stir-fried - fried, soup, boiled - rare, stewed, steamed, braised, grilled, braised, sausage, vermicelli, pho; shrimp, squid, dried fish dishes; fish sauce dishes; homemade cakes and candies; sweet soups; specialty drinks...

The book “Culinary Culture of Phu Yen Province” is a valuable source of information, contributing to preserving the identity of the land of Nau, while promoting the development of the province’s ecotourism industry. This is the sixth book published by folk culture researcher and collector Nguyen Van Hien in more than 3 decades of writing.
