Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in 7 months reached nearly 40 billion USD, surplus of more than 11.5 billion USD

Vietnam's trade balance of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 7 months is estimated to have a surplus of 11.52 billion USD, up 15.9% over the same period last year. The United States is still the largest export market with a market share of 21%.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in the first 7 months of 2025 grew well compared to the same period last year, with an estimated export value of 39.68 billion USD, an increase of 14.7% over the same period in 2024.

In July 2025 alone, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports are estimated to reach 6.01 billion USD, an increase of 13.4% compared to July 2024.

The United States is the largest market

Of which, the export value of agricultural products reached 21.49 billion USD, up 17%; the export value of livestock products reached 339.2 million USD, up 22.1%; the export value of aquatic products reached 6.06 billion USD, up 13.8%; the export value of forestry products reached 10.38 billion USD, up 8.6%; the export value of production inputs reached 1.4 billion USD, up 30.2%; the export value of salt reached 6.4 million USD, up 2.2 times.

By region, Asia is the largest export market for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products, with a market share of 42.6%. The next two largest markets are the Americas and Europe, with market shares of 23.3% and 15.1%, respectively. The market shares of Africa and Oceania are small, accounting for 3.1% and 1.3%, respectively.

Compared to the same period last year, the estimated export value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 7 months of 2025 to Asia increased by 3.3%; America increased by 14.7%; Europe increased by 43.1%; Africa increased by 88.9% and Oceania increased by 4.4%.

In terms of specific export markets, the United States is the largest market with a market share of 21%, China with a market share of 18.4%, and Japan with a market share of 7.2%, which are the three largest export markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam. Compared to the same period last year, the estimated export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam in the first 7 months of 2025 to the United States market increased by 12.1%, China increased by 3.6%, and Japan increased by 23.6%.

Regarding agricultural, forestry and fishery imports, compared to the same period last year, the estimated value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery imports in the first 7 months of 2025 from Asia increased by 19.6%; America increased by 11.2%; Europe increased by 17.9%; Africa increased by 13.4% and Oceania decreased by 1.7%.

Trade surplus of over 11.5 billion USD

Vietnam's trade balance of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the first 7 months of 2025 is estimated to reach a surplus of 11.52 billion USD, up 15.9% over the same period last year. By commodity group, forestry, fishery and agricultural products are the 3 commodity groups with a trade balance in the first 7 months of 2025 in surplus.

Specifically, the forestry group is estimated to have a surplus of 8.39 billion USD, up 4.9% over the same period in 2024; the aquatic products group has a surplus of 4.18 billion USD, up 7.5%; and the agricultural products group has a surplus of 4.28 billion USD, up 33.4%.


Meanwhile, the trade balance of the remaining three groups of goods was in deficit: the production input group had a deficit of 3.1 billion USD, down 6.9%; livestock products had a deficit of 2.21 billion USD, up 22.9%; and salt had a deficit of 15.9 million USD, down 9.2%.

By specific products, there are 6 agricultural, forestry and fishery products with an estimated trade surplus of over 1 billion USD in the first 7 months of 2025, including: wood and wood products with a surplus of 7.7 billion USD, up 4.1% over the same period last year; coffee with a surplus of 5.78 billion USD, up 66%; fruit and vegetables with a surplus of 2.47 billion USD, down 7.1%; shrimp with a surplus of 2.08 billion USD, up 16.3%; rice with a surplus of 1.81 billion USD, down 30%; pangasius with a surplus of 1.11 billion USD, up 8.3%.

The five agricultural, forestry and fishery products with the highest estimated trade deficit in the first 7 months of 2025 include: animal feed and raw materials with a deficit of 1.89 billion USD, down 17.2% over the same period last year; cotton of all kinds with a deficit of 1.88 billion USD, up 10.1%; preparations from crop products with a deficit of 1.72 billion USD, down 6.3%; corn with a deficit of 1.29 billion USD, down 5.4%; meat, meat by-products and edible by-products after animal slaughter with a deficit of 917.7 million USD, up 10.4%./.

In the third quarter of 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment strives to achieve a total export turnover target of 14-15 billion USD. In the fourth quarter of 2025, it will accelerate the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, taking advantage of the opportunity of increased demand for agricultural products at the end of the calendar year, holidays and Tet to strive to achieve a good growth target of 16 billion USD or more./.
