The provincial school sports tournament (SSC) for the 2024-2025 school year has 2,190 student athletes from 42 units, including 9 Departments of Education and Training and 33 high schools competing in 8 sports: football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, athletics, shuttlecock, badminton and table tennis. Participating in the tournament, Duy Tan High School sent 60 outstanding athletes to compete in the events and won the leading position of the whole delegation.

Convincing victory

In 8 competitions, Duy Tan High School athletes won 37 medals, including 12 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 8 bronze medals. With this achievement, the school ranked first overall, ahead of Nguyen Du High School (Song Hinh district) which ranked second overall with 4 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. This is a worthy achievement for the efforts of the teachers and students of the school.

In the 8 events of this TTHD tournament, Duy Tan High School promoted its strengths in swimming, athletics, soccer, basketball, etc. In particular, in swimming, the school's athletes competed best and won 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. In addition, the school's athletes also won gold medals in athletics and women's basketball.

Ha Nguyen Minh Bao, class 10QT3C, is one of the school's outstanding athletes competing in the Provincial TTHD Tournament for the 2024-2025 school year and won 3 gold medals in swimming events: 200m, 400m freestyle for men and 4x100m relay for men. Minh Bao said: "To achieve the above achievements, every day I not only receive training from teachers on swimming movements, techniques, physical strength and endurance, but I also practice quick turns on my own after completing each lap. Even though I have finished the provincial competition, I still maintain my training to maintain my form to prepare for upcoming swimming competitions."

The constant efforts and enthusiastic sportsmanship of teachers and students of Duy Tan High School not only affirm the comprehensive training quality of the school but also serve as a great source of motivation for the school to continue promoting the physical training movement, improving health and developing sports talents for students. With the spirit of solidarity, effort and desire to conquer, I believe that teachers and students of the school will continue to reap more success in the following seasons.

Or Le Thanh Hau, a 7B student at the school, although he plays basketball, at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, Hau was discovered by Physical Education teachers to have athletics qualities, so they nurtured him and let him participate in the Tuy Hoa City Athletics Championships, winning a bronze medal in the 1,500m run. With a city-level medal, Hau continued to practice and was trained by teachers to improve, completing the lesson plan given by the teachers every day. Thanks to regular practice, Hau has promoted his strengths and abilities. At the Provincial Athletics Championships for the 2024-2025 school year, despite his young age, Thanh Hau was promoted to compete in the 3km run with high school students in high schools in the province and won a gold medal.

Le Thanh Hau said: “The first time I competed in a 3km race with my seniors from high schools in the province, I was very nervous. When I entered the race, I followed the techniques and tactics that the teachers instructed, so I maintained my physical strength and speed to the finish line and won the gold medal. I was very happy and surprised to win the medal this time. I am currently trying to practice hard to participate in the upcoming National High School Sports Tournament.”

Investing in depth

Over the years, Duy Tan High School has always aimed at providing comprehensive education for students according to the 2018 General Education Program and educating students to become global citizens. Therefore, in addition to focusing on improving the quality of teaching and learning, the school also develops the TTHĐ movement. According to Mr. Pham Van Tin, Permanent Vice Chairman of the School Council and Advisor to the Board of Directors of Duy Tan High School, the school has invested in a sports area for students to have a playground, physical exercise, develop stature, and study well such as: soccer field, volleyball, basketball, badminton, swimming pool...

“The construction of the training ground aims to create conditions for students to have a sports playground, equip them with knowledge, and develop motor skills through teaching and organizing physical activities. In addition to investing in the training ground, the school also trains good teachers to coach sports teams and maintains training for the teams from the beginning of the school year. To encourage students to practice and compete well, the school has a preferential policy: students who win gold medals in provincial sports receive a 30% reduction in tuition fees. Thanks to that, students are motivated to practice and compete to achieve high results,” said Mr. Pham Van Tin.

According to Mr. Tran Tien Sang, Head of the Physical Education, National Defense and Security Group of the school, in order for students to be passionate about playing sports, the school board not only creates conditions for them to practice but also supports them with training costs. Every year at the beginning of the school year, the school organizes a school-level TTHD tournament for students of all grades to participate in training and competing. Through this, teachers select outstanding students to join the team to practice continuously until the tournament takes place. Thanks to this, students can develop their strengths, abilities, improve their professional and technical skills... and compete well.
