At around 2:15 a.m. this morning (August 4), Dai Lanh Commune Police ( Khanh Hoa ) received information about an oil spill on National Highway 1A through Dong Bac village, Dai Lanh commune, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.

Immediately afterwards, Dai Lanh Commune Police inspected the scene and determined that a large amount of oil had leaked from a punctured tank of a specialized car onto the road surface over an area of about 2m wide and stretching nearly 2km from the north of Co Ma Pass to the south of Ca Pass, including a long stretch through a densely populated residential area.

Along with assigning police forces, security and order teams, and local militia to be on duty at the scene to warn vehicles, Dai Lanh Commune Police reported to the Traffic Police Department, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police of Khanh Hoa Province Police and Road Management Office III.2 to mobilize human resources from Ninh Hoa Traffic Police Station, Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Region III and Van Ninh Road Management Department to coordinate with people to spread sand overnight on the asphalt road with oil spill to prevent slippery incidents.

According to Dai Lanh Commune Police, before that, Mr. Mang Viet Hai (born in 1980, residing in Quarter 4, Phu Thinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), was driving a tanker truck with license plate 51C-797.92 transporting 18,300kg of PRO 140 on National Highway 1A from the South to Dai Lanh Commune when the above incident occurred.
