"Yadang: Three Faces Turn the Table" is a thrilling and nerve-wracking battle

"Yadang: The Three-Face Offender" is the highest-grossing Korean action and crime film in domestic revenue in 2025 to date. In Vietnam, the film is currently showing in theaters and is one of the works that attracts a large number of viewers.

Although there are not many action scenes or spectacular explosions, the film still makes the audience unable to take their eyes off the screen because of the mind games and continuous "turnarounds".

In South Korea, Yadang refers to middlemen who provide information about criminal gangs to police or prosecutors in exchange for money or protection. For the first time, the profession of informant has been deeply exploited and become the main character of a blockbuster on the big screen.

The film follows Lee Kang Su (Kang Ha Neul), a taxi driver who was wrongly convicted of drug-related crimes. In prison, he agrees to become an undercover agent for prosecutor Gu Gwan Hee (Yoo Hae Jin) in order to have his sentence reduced. After his release, he becomes a notorious Yadang and a valuable ally of prosecutor Gu. Opposing Gu is the head of the drug investigation team, Oh Sang Jae (Park Hae Joon), who is determined to solve the case at all costs.

3 main characters of the movie.

In a case of arresting a major drug trafficking gang, after success, Lee Kang Su and Oh Sang Jae were both eliminated from the game: the one accused of bribery was detained for investigation, the other was purged and turned into a drug addict. A year later, the two joined hands to take revenge on Prosecutor Gu. A trap was set, but will they be able to defeat the cunning old fox in the name of the law?

The first commendable point is the "tense as a bowstring" script and a series of situations that turn the tables, taking the audience from one surprise to another. In particular, the film does not have a clear positive or negative, only intrigues and tricks to bring down each other between the forces. Prosecutor Gu Gwan Hee, team leader Oh Sang Jae, and informant Lee Kang Su struggle in a vortex of power - group interests, where there are no good sides, only the more sober side. On the other hand, the film directly satirizes and exposes the dark side of the power apparatus: from bribery, selling each other out to election tricks.

The film's plot is fast and concise, with plot twists and turns that are appropriately inserted, making the audience excited and nervous to watch the uncompromising three-way battle. The three main actors contribute to the film's success with their dynamic and well-coordinated performances. Kang Ha Neul as Lee Kang Su makes the audience both sympathetic and surprised with the journey of changing the psychology and personality of the number 1 informant who was tragically harmed. Meanwhile, Yoo Hae Jin as prosecutor Gu and Park Hae Joon as police officer Oh Sang Jae represent two shades: the cold, sinister one - the hot-tempered, extremist one. The three create a balanced triangle, a mind-boggling battle like a card game that only waits until the last card is revealed to know who wins or loses.

"Yadang: The Three-Face Turnaround" is not only entertaining but also reflects social issues about morality, power and truth. There, every step, every calculation is a life-and-death bet that the characters have to pay with their own rights and lives.
