The Ministry of Health requires the reserve and supply of sufficient medicine to treat and prevent epidemics during the rainy season.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam, Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces and cities; drug import and production establishments on ensuring drug supply during the flood season of 2025.

Accordingly, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requested localities and facilities to promptly overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and always be ready and proactively prepare resources to effectively respond to the storm season of 2025 in the coming time, ensuring adequate supply of drugs for the prevention and control of diseases that may arise during the storm and flood season such as pink eye, dengue fever, diarrhea, skin diseases, etc.

Medical facilities proactively make a list of essential medicines for people, promptly plan, order and purchase additional supplies, and reserve them to ensure there are enough medicines to serve medical situations affected by storms, floods, and epidemics.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam also requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to direct drug production, trading and import establishments in the area to have plans to reserve and provide adequate and timely drugs for treatment needs, especially ensuring the number of drugs for disease prevention according to diagnosis and treatment guidelines and other guidelines of the Ministry of Health; to avoid drug shortages and fluctuations in drug prices.

Local medical facilities proactively make a list of essential medicines for people, promptly plan, order and purchase additional medicines, and reserve them to ensure there are enough medicines to serve medical situations affected by storms, floods, and epidemics.

Health Departments need to promptly report to the Ministry of Health in case of a risk of shortage of medicine to serve the prevention and treatment of diseases that may arise after floods in the area.

For establishments producing, trading and importing drugs, it is necessary to prepare a source of drugs with quality and reasonable prices to prioritize adequate and timely supply for the needs of disease prevention and control.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam will prioritize and consider handling according to regulations import orders for drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients that do not have circulation registration certificates to meet urgent needs in disease prevention and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and catastrophes.

In case of difficulties or problems with supply sources, units should report to the Department of Drug Administration for guidance and consideration for resolution.

Proactive medical response to floods

The Ministry of Health has also just sent a document to the Department of Health of the mountainous, midland and northern central provinces; units under the Ministry of Health in the northern and central regions on proactive medical work to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters during the 2025 storm and flood season.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health requested units to proactively coordinate with local forces to rescue and provide emergency care to injured people in landslide, flash flood, and flash flood areas. During the rescue process, they must pay attention to ensuring absolute safety of the forces.

The Ministry of Health also requested to coordinate with localities to inspect and review unsafe medical facilities in areas at risk of landslides during heavy rains; proactively relocate and evacuate medical facilities in low-lying areas with high risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides, ensuring safety for people and medical staff, especially during floods.

Organize environmental sanitation, disease prevention, ensure clean water, food safety due to floods; arrange and stabilize medical examination and treatment facilities, ensure medical examination and treatment for people after floods...
