The Zeekr 9X - Geely Group's flagship plug-in hybrid SUV (PHEV) - has just announced key specifications in China ahead of its launch in late August 2025. This is a model that was previously launched at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. The 9X is the 8th model of the Zeekr brand and is also the first model to use the all-new SEA-S modular chassis platform. This large SUV has dimensions of length x width x height of 5,239 x 2,029 x 1,819 mm, respectively. and a wheelbase of up to 3,169 mm.
The SEA-S platform, known in Chinese as the Haohan-S, uses SEA Hybrid engine technology. One of the highlights of the car is the Freevoy battery pack manufactured by CATL with a capacity of 70 kWh. This is one of the largest battery packs ever used in a PHEV. For comparison, its direct competitor, the BYD YangWang U8, only uses a 49 kWh battery. The Zeekr 9X's battery provides an electric range of up to 380 km according to CLTC standards and supports 6C fast charging thanks to a 900V electrical system. This allows the car to charge from 20% to 80% in just 9 minutes. Zeekr says the 9X is capable of charging faster than 99% of electric vehicles currently on the market globally. Another highlight of the Zeekr 9X is its huge power output. The car uses a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine with a maximum capacity of 205 kW (275 horsepower), with a thermal efficiency of more than 46%. In addition, the car also has 3 silicon carbide electric motors with a total capacity of 1,030 kW (1,381 horsepower). According to Zeekr, this capacity is equivalent to three gasoline V12 engines. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and has a maximum speed of 240 km/h. After fully charging the battery and filling it with gas, the car can travel more than 1,000 km. The Zeekr 9X is equipped with a dual-chamber air suspension system with dual CDC valves, allowing for an increase in ground clearance of 110 mm and a maximum of 288 mm. The car can raise the ground clearance by 30 mm in just 7 seconds.
In addition, the 9X chassis also has a 48V active stabilizer bar to help reduce body tilt when cornering. The suspension's AI artificial intelligence system helps the car adapt well to rough terrain. The car can automatically switch between off-road modes such as snow, deep snow, mud, rock, sand, etc. The torsional stiffness of the body reaches 41,600 Nm/degree with a body made of 91% high-strength steel and aluminum. There are 10 structures in the body with a tensile strength of 2,000 MPa. The interior of the Zeekr 9X has a 6-seat layout with a 2+2+2 seat configuration. The second row consists of two separate business seats with electric footrests and zero gravity mode. The front seats are luxuriously designed with speakers integrated into the headrests. Meanwhile, the dashboard comes with a large, floating central touch screen and a row of physical buttons below. The area between the two front seats has two wireless charging trays, a crystal gear lever and many wood-paneled details. The main gear lever is located behind the D-shaped steering wheel while the seat adjustment buttons are integrated on the door panels. The car uses buttons instead of traditional door handles.
The top-of-the-line version of the Zeekr 9X uses the G-Pilot H9 driving assistance system, which meets level 3 autonomous driving standards, thanks to 5 520-line LiDAR sensors and 2 Nvidia Drive Thor chips with a total computing performance of 1,400 TOPS. The standard version uses the G-Pilot H7 system with a single chip, for a performance of 700 TOPS. The Zeekr 9X will begin pre-sale in the Chinese market at the end of August this year within the framework of the Chengdu Auto Show 2025. The car will officially be available in this billion-people market in the third quarter of this year. The selling price of Zeekr 9X has not been revealed yet but is expected to not be cheap. The Zeekr brand has also entered the Vietnamese market since September 2024. However, this brand has not yet launched a car in Vietnam.
