Each story is a part of history, each page is a fire.
Over the past century, the press has not only been the “eyes and ears” of the people, a sharp propaganda tool, but also the crystallization of the passion, intelligence and responsibility of thousands of writers. From the deep forest war zone to the bustling urban area, from the difficult resistance period to the peacetime of comprehensive renovation, the press has always accompanied the history of the nation.
“100 stories of the profession” is not simply a commemorative book, but 100 authentic slices of journalism life, vividly reflecting both the silent sacrifices and the glory of the profession. Stories such as “From a pink brick to a revolutionary journalistic house”, “Doing journalism on a bamboo bed”, “Journalism in prison” or “The story behind the photo of two soldiers” recall a time of journalism with both courage and ideals. Each line not only recounts memories but also clearly depicts the image of journalists, soldiers on the ideological front, always putting the truth and the people first.
Not only stopping at the characters, the book also recreates the development journey of key press agencies such as: Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam Radio , Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper... From the handwritten newspaper in the middle of the war zone to the first radio news broadcast at night, to valuable documentary footage, all create a rich and comprehensive appearance of Vietnam's revolutionary press.
According to the editorial board, the book is also a gift of gratitude to those who have been and are working in journalism, those who have fallen for their ideals, and today's writers who are still "with bright eyes, pure hearts, and sharp pens" every day. With simple and familiar language, "100 stories of the profession" is a valuable document not only for those in the profession but also an emotional touch point for anyone who loves, learns about, and wants to accompany the Vietnamese revolutionary press on its new journey.
