In recent days, social networks have been sharing a special summer homework sheet given to students by Mr. Do Duc Anh - a literature teacher at Bui Thi Xuan High School, Ho Chi Minh City.

This worksheet is not new, but is shared every summer. The content of the worksheet is 6 exercises that are both easy and difficult to complete.

“Exercise #1: Let someone in your family hug you if your school results last year were not as expected.

Exercise 2: Enjoy your summer with all your youthful energy.

Exercise 3: Take advantage of improving your foreign language skills and necessary soft skills.

Exercise 4: Guys, always know how to overcome the storms of life with the spirit of a warrior. Girls, stand up, put on more lipstick, smile and proudly move forward. Because if you are not a tree, there is no reason for us to stand still.

Exercise 5: One evening in your life, if you feel lonely or sad, recall the gentle memories of your teacher and student. Or if at any time you want someone to listen to your extreme disappointment, just call me, I am always here.

Exercise 6: Always be a kind and happy person, listen".

At the end of the assignment sheet, Mr. Do Duc Anh clearly stated the submission time and the message: “You will have plenty of time to complete these 6 homework assignments, so take your time and don’t rush to submit them. Because I know, there are assignments that will take you your whole youth, maybe your whole life, to complete.

Hoai hopes you submit your assignment.

The above summer homework sheet was put in an envelope by Mr. Do Duc Anh and given to each parent in person at the end-of-school-year parent meeting 5 years ago.

Every summer, when the homework sheets are reposted on websites, many parents express that not only Mr. Duc Anh's students but also their parents want to do homework this summer.

Sharing with Dan Tri newspaper reporter, teacher Do Duc Anh said that 5 years ago, he did not think that the letter would have such a big impact on the community.

“Actually, that exercise is only special in form. Many teachers have done similar things for their students, through direct messages in class,” said Mr. Duc Anh.

In the following years, Mr. Duc Anh did not make any more worksheets because he thought it was unnecessary. With each batch of students, he wanted to create a different memory.

However, what the teacher shared in the worksheet is also his consistent view oneducation .

“In the year-end parent meetings, I never summarize achievements or evaluate each student such as what titles or awards they have won this year, how they have trained, or what results they have not achieved.

I always emphasize that I appreciate your efforts, no matter what the result is, you are still my pride.

I hope parents think like me, no matter what the outcome, give their children a hug.

That hug was a word of encouragement for me after a year of hard study.

Even if you haven't tried, you still deserve a hug so you understand that you always have your parents behind you, always supporting, encouraging, and giving you strength," Mr. Duc Anh confided.

As a literature teacher, Mr. Duc Anh believes that he must not only give his students knowledge but also awaken in them a feeling for beauty and a beautiful ideal of life. The summer homework sheet that he gave his students 5 years ago was no exception to that goal.

Inspired by Mr. Do Duc Anh's letter, Mr. Ngo Kim Hai - a literature teacher at Nam Sai Gon Primary, Secondary and High School, Ho Chi Minh City - also assigned a similar summer homework sheet to his 6th grade students right after the 2025-2026 school year ended.

Using the excuse of "accidentally" giving the whole class a 10 in the regular test column, Mr. Hai asked the students to do the following homework and submit it to him:

At the end of the worksheet, Mr. Hai used witty and humorous words to confide in his Gen Alpha students: "Thank you for "patiently" sitting and listening to me "babble" throughout the entire 6th grade year. Truly, I feel lucky to have met you during the lost years of my youth.

Bye!

But trust me, goodbye is not really a farewell, but a promise: "See you again!".

See you again in a happy and handsome/pretty version!

Remember to submit your full assignment to me, guys!"

This humorous letter from Mr. Hai has received interest and support from the online community in the past few hours.
