Tomorrow (October 17), female referee Le Thi Ly and female assistant referee Ha Thi Phuong will start their duties at the first match of the 2024 Women's U17 World Cup, taking place in the capital Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

This is the first time Vietnam has had a referee appointed by FIFA at the U17 Women's World Cup. Previously, referee Le Thi Ly had the honor of being the first female referee in Vietnam to officiate at the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The 2024 Women's U17 World Cup took place from today (October 16) to November 3. The tournament featured 16 teams including Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria (Group A); Spain, USA, South Korea, Colombia (Group B); DPR Korea, Mexico, Kenya, England (Group C); Japan, Poland, Brazil, Zambia (Group D).

In this tournament, the championship candidates are North Korea, Japan, Spain, the United States and Brazil.

In the past, North Korea's women's football team won both the U17 and U20 World Cups in the same year, 2016. If North Korea's U17 women's team wins the 2024 U17 Women's World Cup, they will repeat the feat they achieved 8 years ago when they won the 2024 U20 Women's World Cup.
