(Dan Tri) - According to the speaker, in the issue of educational innovation, modern teachers need to possess at least 6 core competencies. And the training products need to be guaranteed in the "5 must" direction.

On November 21, Ca Mau province organized a seminar on "Improving the quality of education and training, current situation and directions" to implement Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.

At the discussion, People's Teacher Thai Van Long, former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province, said that the province's education sector has 3 basic bottlenecks that need to be removed.

That is to solve the shortage of teachers to ensure enough at all levels and fields of study, because this is the decisive factor in quality and the center of educational innovation in the coming time.

The second bottleneck, according to People's Teacher Thai Van Long, is to prioritize removing the lack of uniformity and outdated equipment for teaching and learning, especially for digital transformation, to meet the requirements of deploying digital technology in schools.

"The internet infrastructure in schools must be strong so that teachers and students can have the best access to serve teaching and learning," noted People's Teacher Thai Van Long.

Also according to People's Teacher Thai Van Long, the third bottleneck is to change teaching and learning methods, promote digital transformation in management, and minimize paper records. This is not only cost-effective, but also ensures the environment and optimally exploits digital technology.

Along with that, create a school governance mechanism, assign clear tasks, clear autonomy, clear evaluation, clear responsibility and clear accountability for all its activities.

“Ca Mau needs a double push in the coming period. One is to invest in human resources, because this is the key to opening the door to digital transformation in education management and teaching. The other is to invest in facilities and technology to create conditions for digital transformation in the education sector,” the former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province emphasized.

Dr. Ngo Duc Luu, Chairman of the Board of Bac Lieu University, acknowledged that the current bottleneck is that the school's staff is facing many difficulties. Previously, the province had a policy to attract talent, but for many years it has not been able to attract people from outside the province to work, especially in the field of training.

He proposed that the province should have policies to encourage and motivate cadres, lecturers as well as those from other sectors to study to improve their qualifications to serve the development of local education and training.

At the seminar, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Anh Huy, Principal of the School of Education (Can Tho University) said that, with the strong development of digital technology, the team of teachers with the central role of the educational process is the decisive factor for the success of digital transformation.

“Building a team of teachers with full digital capacity, modern pedagogical skills and innovative thinking is an urgent task of the provincial education sector,” Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Anh Huy emphasized.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Anh Huy, modern teachers need to possess a comprehensive system of competencies, including pedagogical competencies, professional competencies, digital competencies, integration competencies, communication and collaboration competencies, and self-study and creativity competencies.

Students today are born into a digital environment, exposed to smart devices from a very early age, so teachers need to be able to guide, orient and protect students from risks such as device addiction, access to harmful content or personal data breaches.

“Teachers also need to equip students with the fundamental skills of digital citizenship such as information analysis, critical thinking, digital collaboration, creativity and problem solving in a technological environment,” the Principal of the Pedagogical School shared.

Sharing at the discussion, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, Senior Lecturer (Regional Political Academy II) said that one of the solutions is that the province needs to pay attention to the income of teachers. "They have done well and when they feel secure in life, they will contribute and do even better," he said.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong suggested that in the training programs at colleges and universities, the province needs to have biotechnology (aquaculture, agriculture, environment, health), aiming at the story of developing green economy, circular economy; maritime science to meet the province's human resources in the coming time when seaports need operators,...

Sharing more about training, Dr. Phan Van Dan, Principal of Bac Lieu University, acknowledged that the province's human resource training system still has limitations and has not kept up with the development such as: The training scale is still small, there is a lack of new training majors compared to other schools; the training program is slow to update digital technology; there is a lack of highly qualified lecturers (PhD, Associate Professor, Professor); the connection between schools - businesses - authorities has not promoted the advantages of related parties; students lack soft skills, digital skills, and foreign languages.

According to Dr. Dan, to meet the human resources demand for key sectors, the province is orienting the development of industries such as: Seafood processing technology; Seafood biotechnology; Renewable energy; Smart tourism management; Restaurant and hotel management; Port logistics and supply chain management; Digital transformation of agriculture.

To open the above majors, according to Dr. Dan, one of the solutions is how to attract highly qualified lecturers (PhD, Associate Professor, Professor) with international experience.

The Rector of Bac Lieu University also recommended that the province develop support policies (tuition fees, scholarships for students in fields where the province lacks human resources; lecturers publish international articles to aim for the title of Associate Professor, Professor) and order training of high-quality human resources.

Dr. Phan Van Dan emphasized that, in order to innovate education and create breakthroughs in human resources to meet the development requirements of the province, training products must be ensured in the direction of "5 musts" (5P).

That is, one must have high skills, understanding of modern technology, innovative thinking; must be proficient in technology, foreign languages, digital skills; must be able to research and apply science and technology into production and business practices; must have an industrial style, high labor discipline; must be able to integrate and work in a dynamic environment.
