6 Vietnamese MMA fighters attend SEA Games 33 in Thailand

The Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation (VMMAF) has finalized the list of 6 Vietnamese martial artists participating in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, including 4 champions of the LION Championship.

Mixed martial arts - MMA was approved for the first time in the 33rd SEA Games. This is the first Southeast Asian sports festival to include this modern martial art in professional competition.

The Vietnam MMA delegation announced on October 16 has 6 fighters, including 3 men and 3 women in many different weight classes.

Specifically, in the traditional 56 kg weight class is martial artist Pham Van Nam (Ho Chi Minh City Team). Van Nam was born in 1992, has many achievements in domestic jujitsu. He is the first person to hold the 56 kg weight class belt of the Lion Championship.

Meanwhile, Tran Ngoc Luong (Ho Chi Minh City Team) will compete in the modern MMA category in the 60 kg category. The athlete born in 1993 is also a martial artist with a jujitsu background, having won many gold medals at national tournaments.

Quang Van Minh competes for the 65 kg modern MMA title. Van Minh was born in 1997, belongs to the Da Nang delegation. He is of Thai ethnicity, and is training in Hanoi .

The 3 female boxers include Le Ngoc Thu (born in 1999, Ho Chi Minh City delegation, traditional 54 kg category), Duong Thi Thanh Binh (born in 2003, Thai Nguyen delegation, Cao Lan ethnic group, traditional 54 kg category) and Nguyen Vu Quynh Hoa (born in 2003, Thai Nguyen delegation, 60 kg category).

In addition, the Vietnamese MMA delegation also has 3 other members including head of delegation Tong Thi Ngoc Hoa, Mai Thanh Ba and Phan Anh Yen.

Vietnam MMA delegation competes at SEA Games 33 in Thailand from December 8 to 12, 2025.
