615 candidates qualified for Professor and Associate Professor in 2024

There are 45 Professor (GS) candidates and 570 Associate Professor (PGS) candidates who have received enough votes of confidence from the State Council of Professors in 2024.

The State Council of Professors has just announced the list of candidates recognized as Professors and Associate Professors in 2024, which was considered at the 2nd Meeting of the Council for the 2024-2029 term, on November 2-3.

Accordingly, 615 candidates were recognized as meeting the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2024, including candidates from the Council of Professors of Security Science and the Council of Professors of Military Science. Of these, there were 45 Professor candidates and 570 Associate Professor candidates. The candidates eliminated in the final round were all candidates for the title of Associate Professor, at the interdisciplinary Councils of Professors of Economics (4), Animal Husbandry - Veterinary Medicine - Aquaculture (2), Information Technology (2), Biology (2), Mechanics (1), Mechanics - Dynamics (1), Agriculture - Forestry (1), Irrigation (1), Philosophy - Sociology - Political Science (1), Medicine (1).

The Office of the State Council of Professors said that it has published information about qualified candidates on the websites of higher education institutions and the website of the State Council of Professors. Within 15 days, if there are no petitions or complaints, the Chairman of the State Council of Professors will sign a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2024.

In 2024, the recognition of meeting the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor will continue to be implemented according to Decision No. 37/2018/QD-TTg dated August 31, 2018 and Decision No. 25/2020/QD-TTG dated August 31, 2020 of the Prime Minister. The basic, sectoral and interdisciplinary Councils of Professors have strictly complied with current regulations. The quality of candidates in 2024 is quite good, foreign language proficiency has improved a lot, most of the candidates have scientific research works published in prestigious international journals in the WoS and Scopus categories.

In 2024, the disclosure of information about qualified candidates on the websites of higher education institutions and the website of the State Council of Professors reflects the openness and transparency of the review process. Critical information from society, the scientific community, and relevant organizations and individuals is a useful source of information to help functional units select qualified and deserving candidates to meet the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2024.
