On October 9, the State Council of Professors announced the list of candidates proposed by the Council of Professors of all disciplines and interdisciplinary disciplines to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024.

Of the total 673 candidates proposed for recognition of the title of professor and associate professor in 2024, 582 candidates were recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor, and 91 candidates were eliminated from the list.
Of the 582 recognized candidates, 43 met the standards for the title of professor and 539 met the standards for the title of associate professor.
In addition to general standards, the titles of professor and associate professor have their own standards.
Some criteria for the title of professor include the candidate being the main author who has published at least 5 scientific articles or patents; useful solutions; works of art, training achievements, and sports competitions that have won international awards;
Preside over the compilation of books for training from university level and above suitable for the major considered for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor;
Preside over the implementation of at least 2 ministerial-level science and technology tasks or 1 national-level science and technology task that has been accepted with results of satisfactory or higher.
Mainly supervise at least 2 doctoral students as prescribed by law.
Candidates who do not supervise enough graduate students as prescribed in this clause shall be replaced by scientific articles or patents; utility solutions; works of art, training achievements, and sports competitions that have won international awards; the main supervision of 1 graduate student shall be replaced by 3 scientific articles or scientific works as prescribed in this point.
For the title of associate professor, there are some specific criteria such as having a doctorate degree of 3 years or more; having at least 6 years, of which the last 3 years must be continuously participating in training and development from university level or higher up to the application deadline.
