Heartwarming acts of kindness amidst the floods.

Amidst the floods, lights were kept on, warm meals were shared, and open arms embraced one another. Without fanfare or ostentation, kindness spread through small acts. The storm came and went, but human compassion remained, quiet, warm, and enduring like the warmth in our hearts, helping many to stand strong after the floods.

Let's cook together.

These days, social media is flooded with posts expressing solidarity and support for the provinces and cities that suffered heavy damage from Typhoon No. 10. In Tuyen Quang , the floods caused extensive damage. In this context, along with the responsible, proactive, and continuous efforts of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, the people in the flooded areas have also received immense support from thousands of people both inside and outside the province.

It is impossible to quantify how many units, organizations, and individuals have been and are supporting the government and people in the flooded areas. Those with spacious rooms or houses offer shelter to people in the flooded areas, even providing free food and drink; those with vehicles are willing to transport relief supplies free of charge; those with essential supplies provide assistance; those who can cook provide meals; those who know how to drive boats participate in rescuing those who are trapped or isolated; and those with time help distribute meals and participate in monitoring at flooded areas.

Some people act as a "connecting link" between those in need and rescue forces, charitable organizations, and groups… Everyone is working tirelessly against time, hoping to help as many people in need as possible.

Besides the movement to send life jackets and essential supplies, the campaign to cook relief meals for flood-affected areas also received widespread support. Many articles and videos about the relief meal cooking activities were shared across social media, further spreading the message of love, sharing, and mutual support within the community.

Not only did thousands of "likes" and complimentary comments respond, but more and more people are joining in to cook and donate meals to flood victims. Many people are dedicating their time and effort to packing thousands of meals, hoping to bring some warmth to their compatriots in the flood-affected areas who are suffering from the cold and many difficulties and inconveniences caused by the natural disaster.

Ms. Nguyen Khanh Ha from Bac Quang commune shared: "Seeing how much our people are suffering, their houses completely flooded, and they have no food, we couldn't just sit idly by. We called on everyone to contribute together."

With the spirit of "everyone brings what they have," makeshift kitchens were set up. There was no clear hierarchy or assigned tasks; everyone voluntarily pitched in. Rice, meat, vegetables, spices… were gathered from whatever was left after the storm. The smell of cooking smoke wafted through the air, and the clanging of pots and pans quickly drowned out the sound of the pouring rain. In just three days of the storm and flooding, her team mobilized over 30 people, maintaining fires at four cooking points, and promptly provided over 1,000 meals to the people in the flooded areas.

At other collection points in Ha Giang 1 and 2 wards, the rice-cooking movement was equally enthusiastic. Ms. Tran Thi Van from Ha Giang 1 ward shared: “I noticed that my family had few eggs and little vegetables left in the garden. I brought some to contribute and cook with everyone. Although it was hard work, seeing people receive hot meals and their faces looking less tired made us happy.”

Nguyen Thi Thoa, a volunteer in Ha Giang 2 ward, said: "Seeing images of people in the flood-affected areas suffering and losing their lives, I couldn't sit still. Although I only contributed a small amount of effort, I hope that the meals we cooked will help alleviate some of their immediate difficulties."

Sharing with fellow countrymen

The community's efforts were well-received and coordinated effectively by local authorities and socio-political organizations. In Vi Xuyen commune, the Fatherland Front, together with the people, prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner for isolated households. On October 1st, nearly 2,000 meals were cooked at four locations and transported to isolated families.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said: "From 4 a.m., everyone gathered to prepare breakfast and ingredients for lunch and dinner. Everyone wanted to contribute to helping people overcome immediate difficulties. The meals cooked with everyone's support further strengthened the spirit of solidarity and sharing in the community."

Throughout the province, there are also many free meal preparation points, with thousands of meals cooked daily through acts of sharing, with some contributing labor and others providing resources to help many families overcome difficulties. Mr. Mai Quoc Sy from Chiem Hoa commune shared: “The water rose quickly, and our family didn't have time to move. We were deeply moved to receive these free meals from our neighbors. These will certainly be the best meals we've ever eaten.”

On the afternoon of October 1st, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee provided emergency assistance of 1,000 boxes of instant noodles, over 300 boxes of bottled water, and 300 essential supplies, mobilizing police and military forces to deliver them directly to residents in Ha Giang 1 and 2 wards who were isolated due to rising floodwaters. In addition, the Provincial Red Cross launched a fundraising campaign to support flood victims and received the first ton of relief rice donated by the Sang Nhung Safe Food Production and Processing Cooperative. The Tuyen Quang Provincial Youth Union also promptly formed volunteer youth groups to assist residents in cleaning up and mitigating the consequences of the disaster.

Currently, there are no statistics on the quantity of goods, vehicles, supplies, machinery, and equipment that units, businesses, and philanthropists have donated to localities and people in flood-affected areas of the province. It is only known that this support is necessary and contributes to the urgent efforts of local authorities to help flood victims quickly stabilize their lives and production.

There are still many touching stories about other kind hearts and noble deeds. It is these acts of kindness that have made our lives brighter, giving strength to flood victims, giving them more faith in the future to overcome the consequences of the natural disaster and quickly stabilize their lives.
