On April 28, American multinational technology company Amazon launched the first batch of satellites in its "Project Kuiper" marking an important step in the company's efforts to expand global broadband access.
The satellites were launched by an Atlas V rocket of the United Launch Alliance (ULA) industrial corporation from Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida at 7:01 p.m. local time (7:01 a.m. on April 29, Hanoi time).
ULA said the first stage of the launch was completed with the thruster shut down before separating the Atlas V rocket's common core booster.
The second stage system remains in good condition as it continues to accelerate toward orbit alongside the first satellites in Amazon's Kuiper project, according to ULA.
Project Kuiper will deploy 27 satellites at an altitude of 450 kilometers above Earth, marking the beginning of Amazon's plan to deploy more than 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit.
The project aims to provide high-speed, low-latency Internet with almost global coverage by the end of this year.
The launch was originally scheduled for April 9 but was canceled due to weather concerns./.
