After failing to qualify for the Champions League, alongside Bruno Fernandes' decision to stay, MU is looking to reduce its bloated wage bill by offloading players like Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
Sancho, who earns £250,000 a week, will return to United after failing to agree personal terms with Chelsea. Similarly, Antony is also back at Old Trafford after a successful half-season with Real Betis. If Antony is sold, United will save around £105,000 a week.
Rashford will also return to Old Trafford after a loan spell at Aston Villa. His salary of up to £300,000 a week is a big barrier preventing this striker from finding a suitable destination. Rashford is forced to take a pay cut if he wants to move to another team.
Another case is left-back Tyrell Malacia, currently on £80,000 a week. With the arrivals of Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw, and the imminent arrival of 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon, Malacia will have to leave if he wants to have a chance of playing next season.
Selling the four players above could help MU earn more than 100 million pounds, in which Rashford and Antony are valued at 40 million pounds each.
Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof will leave United on free transfers this summer, freeing up a significant wage bill to make room for new signings. United are expected to save more than £18m from the departures of these three players alone.
MU is trying to restructure the squad and prepare for the new season with more suitable contracts for coach Ruben Amorim.
