An Giang is about to have 3 national 5-star OCOP products made from a plant that has a sweet liquid like sugar.

On October 22, information from the Office of New Rural Development Coordination of An Giang province said that the People's Committee of An Giang province has sent a document proposing to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to review, evaluate and classify "National OCOP products" for 3 sugar products of Palmania Joint Stock Company (Tri Ton district).

Accordingly, through the implementation of the OCOP Program in 2024, the People's Committee of An Giang province organized a provincial OCOP Council, evaluating 3 products, including: Palm sugar syrup, palm sugar powder, palm sugar granules, belonging to Palmania Joint Stock Company (Tri Ton district) to meet the participation criteria, evaluating and classifying "5-star OCOP products - national level" with the average score of all products reaching over 90 points.

Specifically, the palm sugar paste product has an average total score of 93.7 points; the palm sugar powder product has an average total score of 93.1 points; the palm sugar granules product has an average total score of 93.3 points.

Previously, on June 4, the People's Committee of An Giang province issued a decision to recognize the results of the assessment of An Giang province's OCOP products meeting the standards for participation and assessment of the classification of "5-star OCOP products - national level" for the above 3 sugar products.

In addition, the People's Committee of An Giang province also proposed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to re-evaluate and re-classify 2 "National OCOP products" for Thien Vuong specialty fragrant rice and Tien Nu royal delicious rice, belonging to Thoai Son Food Company Limited, recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as "National OCOP products" in 2020.
