An Giang strengthens the prevention of fake drugs and fake foods at the end of the year.

On November 7, the People's Committee of An Giang province issued Official Dispatch No. 1624/UBND-KT on strengthening the prevention and control of fake drugs and fake foods in the province.

In Official Dispatch No. 1624/UBND-KT, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province to coordinate in implementing the following contents:

Direct organizations and members to closely coordinate with departments, branches, functional agencies, and authorities at all levels to strengthen propaganda and mobilize union members, association members, and people to participate in preventing and combating the production, trading, and consumption of fake drugs, fake foods, and poor-quality goods.

Propaganda and mobilize production and business establishments and consumers to strictly comply with legal regulations; encourage denunciation and reflection of acts of trading, storing and producing counterfeit goods and goods of unknown origin.

Bringing the content of preventing and combating fake drugs and fake foods into major movements and campaigns chaired by the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, contributing to raising awareness and community responsibility.

Coordinate to commend and reward outstanding collectives and individuals in propaganda, detection, denunciation and fight against counterfeit goods, fake drugs and fake food in the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has directed departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to seriously implement many contents, including the following key contents:

The Department of Health strengthens the inspection and supervision of the quality of drugs, cosmetics and functional foods circulating on the market; focuses on pharmaceutical and cosmetic production and trading establishments and private medical examination and treatment facilities, promptly detects and handles violations according to regulations. Closely coordinates with the Provincial Police in verifying, investigating, and tracing the origin of cases related to fake drugs and fake foods; strictly handles organizations and individuals who violate the law...

The Department of Industry and Trade directs the market management force to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Health, the Provincial Police and relevant local units to strengthen market inspection and control, focusing on medicines, food, and processed foods to promptly detect, prevent and handle acts of production, trading, transportation, and storage of counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and goods of unknown origin; organize a peak period of inter-sectoral inspection and control, especially at the end of 2025; before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2026.

Coordinate with relevant sectors to provide information, promptly support relevant sectors to verify, transfer to investigative agencies, and prosecute cases with signs of criminality according to the law. At the same time, strengthen information, propaganda, and dissemination of legal regulations on combating the production and trade of counterfeit goods, prohibited goods, and commercial fraud, and guide business organizations, individuals, and consumers on how to recognize, reflect, and denounce violations.

The provincial police take the lead in coordinating to grasp the situation, investigate and destroy the production, trading and transportation of fake drugs and fake foods, and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the regulations. Strengthen control of areas, warehouses, ports, border gates and key traffic routes, promptly detect and prevent smuggling, transportation and storage of fake goods and goods of unknown origin; verify and strictly handle cases related to fake drugs and fake foods, ensuring the right person, the right crime and the right law, and thoroughly handle organized crime rings across provinces and borders.

The Provincial Border Guard Command has increased patrols and strictly controlled borders, border gates, sea and islands, and prevented and combated all types of crimes, especially smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in border areas.

The XX Regional Customs Branch coordinates with functional forces to strengthen inspection and control of import and export activities, ensuring compliance with the law, paying special attention to shipments that must meet specialized inspection conditions according to new standards and regulations for customs clearance and strictly handle acts of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods and goods of unknown origin.

The Department of Science and Technology promotes the application of science and technology in the work of tracing the origin, identifying and preventing and combating counterfeit drugs and fake foods, contributing to improving the effectiveness of state management and protecting consumer rights. Monitor, detect and promptly handle acts of false advertising, exaggerating product uses on media and social networking platforms; coordinate with competent authorities in inspecting, verifying and handling violations according to the provisions of law against acts of smuggling, commercial fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights.

The Department of Culture and Sports coordinates to orient and direct press agencies and grassroots information systems to develop columns, reports, news, articles... to propagate the harmful effects of fake drugs, fake foods and awareness of consuming safe goods with clear origins; organize mobile propaganda, respond to national communication campaigns on protecting consumer rights and food safety.

The People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones shall strengthen direction and coordination with functional agencies in the work of inspection, examination, tracing the origin of goods, monitoring markets, supermarkets, production and business establishments, warehouses, especially drugs, functional foods, cosmetics, processed foods, handling violations according to legal regulations; promptly report and propose measures to handle complicated cases beyond the authority of the Provincial People's Committee...
