The province currently has three walking streets: Ky Lua walking street (Lang Son city); Dong Dang walking street (Cao Loc district) and Dinh Lap walking street (Dinh Lap district). The walking streets operate on Friday and Saturday evenings with many fun activities, culinary experiences... attracting a large number of tourists.
According to statistics from the provincial Market Management Department, the walking streets in the province currently have about 200 businesses and stalls selling pre-processed or on-site processed food and drinks.
To ensure food safety, the provincial Market Management force has coordinated with the management board of the walking streets to actively propagate and inspect food business activities. From 2024 to present, the Market Management teams have coordinated to organize over 120 propaganda sessions, reminding and requesting over 500 food and goods businesses in the walking streets to sign a commitment to strictly comply with legal regulations; organizing surprise inspections of 25 businesses, thereby detecting and handling 6 violations.
Mr. Le Trung Nghia, Captain of Market Management Team No. 1, in charge of the city area, said: Ky Lua walking street has 100 food businesses, to ensure food safety, the team has strengthened market inspection and control, strictly handling violations. From 2024 to present, the team has organized over 100 propaganda, reminders, and requests to sign commitments to strictly implement regulations on food safety, origin of goods, price listing... with about 400 businesses on the walking street. At the same time, the team has suddenly inspected 8 businesses, discovered and handled 3 violations.
Ms. Nong Thu Trang, owner of a cake stall on Ky Lua walking street, said: "After being informed and reminded by the Market Management force, I always strictly follow the regulations on food safety and hygiene and commit to selling at the listed price."
At Dinh Lap walking street (Dinh Lap district), there are about 50 stalls selling food and drinks. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the District Center for Culture, Sports and Communications, Head of the Dinh Lap walking street management board, said: To protect the interests of consumers, the health of people, and visitors experiencing the cuisine on the walking street, we regularly coordinate with the Market Management force to organize food safety inspections and disseminate information to businesses. Since its inception, the management board has coordinated to disseminate information to 100% of food businesses; organized 5 surprise inspections. Through inspections, fast food outlets basically complied with food safety requirements. Some outlets that did not strictly comply were reminded by the delegation and required to sign a commitment to strictly implement regulations on ensuring food safety.
Up to now, food businesses in walking streets in the province have all signed commitments on food safety.
Mr. Dang Van Ngoc, Head of the Market Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade, said: Walking streets are places that attract a large number of people and tourists to visit, experience and enjoy food. Therefore, to control and ensure food safety, the department has directed market management teams to strengthen coordination in inspections; actively promote business establishments to sign commitments to ensure food safety... Thanks to that, food safety issues on walking streets are basically guaranteed. In the coming time, the authorities will continue to promote propaganda and dissemination of knowledge and regulations on food safety in production, processing, trading, preservation and use of food; strengthen inspection and supervision of business locations and resolutely handle violations in the production, processing and trading of unsafe food... Thereby, contributing to protecting the health of people and the community so that walking streets become safe destinations, attracting a large number of people and tourists to visit and experience.
Walking streets are spaces for entertainment and enjoying unique cuisine that attract a large number of people and tourists . Therefore, the authorities have increased propaganda and inspection of food businesses on walking streets, contributing to ensuring the health and safety of people and tourists.
