This is the main melon harvest season, so from early morning, people have been present in the fields to harvest, in time to send the trucks. Currently, in Bau Village, there are more than 3 hectares of melons (an increase of 1 hectare compared to 2024), planted scattered among 15 households. Every year, people in Bau village attend training courses taught by district agricultural extension officers, in which they are instructed on how to sow seeds, spread tarps, and make beds. The advantages of land and climate, along with training and application of new techniques, have brought about efficiency in farming, creating a stable source of income for the people here. Fresh, delicious melons are harvested by people.
Bau village melon has a slightly sweet and cool taste. The best way to eat melon in the summer is to soak it with sugar, ice or fresh milk. Melons in Bau village grow well, some fruits weigh about 2 kg when harvested. When the melons are ripe enough, people often take advantage of the dry weather to quickly harvest them, because if the melons are exposed to rain or too much sun, the skin will crack and the melons will spoil.
Melon planting time is from February and harvest starts from April to June. Melons in Bau village are bought by customers in the garden or sold to traders to be consumed in many places across the country. A few melons are also sold at the market in the commune. According to the people, this year's melon crop is good, with a yield of about 7-8 tons/ha, but the selling price is not high, currently at 8,000 VND/kg.
