New 'armor' for copyright in the digital environment in Vietnam

Certiva - a platform for publishing creative works and protecting digital copyrights was launched by the Vietnam Copyright and Authors Association (VCCA) on the morning of October 30 in Hanoi.

Creativity in the digital environment: Easy to publish, difficult to protect

The digital age is an opportunity for users to access, distribute, and promote creative content on digital platforms anywhere and anytime. However, that opportunity is also a challenge. Copyright infringement is increasing in cyberspace; illegal copying and distribution of digital products has become easier with the support of modern technology. Illegal websites and copyright-infringing applications are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to control. Cyberspace, with its cross-border nature, makes determining the place of infringement and the responsible violator more complicated and difficult.

In Vietnam today, one of the biggest challenges in the enforcement of copyright protection in the digital environment is proving the rights of the rights holder. According to the law, the rights holder must provide authentic evidence of the author's identity, the time of existence, and the time of publication of the work in accordance with the law when there is a dispute.

Need a strong enough legal-technological tool

Accordingly, the Certiva platform (Certiva.org) is positioned as a complementary tool for creative publication forms such as: copyright registration, notarization, and making of certificates... The core goal of the platform is to provide authors with an immediate means to create primary, legally valid evidence of two key factors: author identity, time of existence and copyright protection of the work.

The Certiva platform features an AI chatbot, which is like a 24/7 personal virtual assistant.

Certiva is a "Make in Vietnam" technology and legal initiative developed by the AI ​​and Blockchain technology engineers of BH Media Company (VCCA member); owned and operated by the Vietnam Digital Copyright Appraisal and Authentication Center under VCCA.

Certiva's unique point lies in its technological-legal model that harmoniously combines international standards and Vietnamese regulations, including the "trifecta": encrypted fingerprints, certified timestamps, and public blockchain ledgers (digital fingerprints of works are permanently recorded on the public blockchain network, ensuring that records and works cannot be modified or deleted and can be independently verified by anyone).

In addition to Viettel -CA, Certiva also cooperates with many major suppliers in the US, UK, China... on timestamps and digital signatures, so that creative publications on Certiva will be recognized in most major territories in the world.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Bui Nguyen Hung, Chairman of VCCA, affirmed: "In addition to granting immediate self-defense rights to authors and creators, Certiva also opens the door to global commercialization for Vietnamese works, directly contributing to the sustainable development of the creative industries and national cultural industries."

At the same time, VCCA also introduced the VCCA Media Pass membership card set, a set of identification cards that combines physical identification and digital technology applications. The m.vcca.org.vn portal is where members can perform the online registration process and partners can verify card information.
