More tools for creators to protect copyright in the digital environment

On October 30, the Vietnam Copyright and Creative Association (VCCA) officially launched Certiva - a platform for publishing creative works and protecting digital copyrights , and introduced the VCCA Media Pass membership card set, an identification card set for content creators.

Difficulties in combating copyright infringement in the digital environment

Speaking at the launch ceremony, VCCA Chairman Bui Nguyen Hung said the digital environment offers convenient opportunities to promote creative content. However, copyright protection faces many challenges.

The increasing situation of copyright infringement in cyberspace, illegal copying and distribution of digital products has become easier with modern technology.

Illegal websites and copyright-infringing applications are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to control. Cyberspace, with its cross-border nature, makes it more complicated and difficult to determine where the violation is and who is responsible.

To solve these difficulties and challenges, the Vietnam Copyright and Creativity Association has invested in research and development of Certiva - a platform for publishing digital creativity and copyright protection .

An instant means of establishing primary evidence of authorship

Mr. Bui Nguyen Hung said that the Certiva platform is owned and operated by the Vietnam Digital Copyright Certification and Appraisal Center, a legal entity under the Vietnam Copyright and Creativity Association.

Developed by a team of AI and blockchain technology engineers, Certiva is introduced as "a harmonious combination of international standards and compliance with Vietnamese law".

This is a supplementary tool for authors and owners of works to have more options to protect their copyright, in addition to other forms such as: registering copyright at state management agencies or notarizing or making a certificate or authentication by any other organization.

"Certiva provides authors with an immediate means to establish primary, legally valid evidence of two key elements: author identity, time of existence and copyright protection of the work," said Mr. Bui Nguyen Hung.

Sharing at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Vice President of Vietnam Digital Communications Association - highly appreciated the launch of Certiva - a platform for publishing creations and protecting digital copyrights by the Vietnam Copyright and Creativity Association to provide more tools for creators to protect their copyrights.

Mr. Thang believes this platform will help promote transparency in Vietnam's digital space.
